There is no cure for alcoholism. Once an alcoholic always one. Fall off that wagon it can be disastrous. I have friends that are alcoholics. I always try to celebrate sobriety goals. I also have told them if they fall off that wagon call me. If the OP is still drinking that is his business. However if doing so he is exhibiting one of the characteristics of at least a problem drinker. However going 10 or more years means the OP has made some changes or it simply means he has been lucky. If the OP gets that CDL and a job he starts being subject to on duty breath tests. I hope for the OPs sake drinking and driving is in the past.

way to be judgmental, people. Folks come around here looking for solid advice and, sadly, most of the time along with the advice, they get "life tips". Keep it to yourselves...

To the OP......you'll be fine. Good luck

Yes the OP should be fine provided they have told the truth. As for me I do not beat people up like this. I try to lift them up. I am not an alcoholic however I am someone that gets calls from them. I have more then once spent a night with a friend with a drinking problem after being hit with a lifes trauma. Im 60 years old and have been around alcoholics most of my adult life. Im in the OPs corner. However the OP must understand drinking and driving must stop. Because once issued a CDL things do change.

I fail to see how having a DUI automatically qualifies one as an alcoholic.

It does not. However it is one of the symptoms. People sometimes confuse a problem drinker with being one.

People on the internet tend to make that assumption all the time. It’s something you just have to read and let it go man. More times than not, those are the individuals that quit drinking all together and go around judging others.

I actually agree. Believe it or not but ex smokers are the same way. I saw this on display monday. I wont judge someone especially online because I don't know them. My take on it is please don't drink and drive. It can be a career ender don't matter if you are an alcoholic or not.

I personally don’t even go meet anyone out for a few drinks anymore. Especially now that I’m an owner operator. No room for error for myself or anyone on this board. If I have a few drinks, it’s in front of the tv with my dogs.

In my case I lost my CDL because of epilepsy. However I had already retired. I can't drink alcohol because its contraindicated by several of my meds. However I take trips in my mind and don't need drugs for. Lol I'm so dangerous my friends won't even let me mow their grass. It's all good I reckon.
