But they’re working for a living, paying taxes and working at a place that offers them affordable health insurance and for some strange reason you hate those drivers?
I say you need to trade in and get a dunce hat

Didn't know suck a place existed.

I think with e log, it is going to be virtually impossible for a stand alone type of restaurant to survive. There's simply no time to waste in certain areas, and more areas than less like that.
If you dilly dally for any length of time, it's not so much your 14, you're just not gonna have a place to park.

I typically try to fuel and take my 30 in the same place. And if there is the coffee and chow I want there or close, that's my target.

    The system is way broken.

I'm looking for California to come down like Thor's hammer during the blitz. You watch.

My prediction is weigh station parking lots being overfilled for the week from HOS OOS violations, nationwide. The quality of most ELD solutions on the market is poor, and operator/carrier ignorance is very deep. It will be mostly small fleet company drivers getting shut down.

Many of those who really have something to hide will stay shy. I've nothing to hide and I may stay home too. Too many "Spaks" out there to spoil your day no matter what. This is the dumbest idea ever - perform a blitz that everyone knows when it is going to happen.

Don't you own your own truck?

If you do, your boss is you.

I used to take that week off every year but once again I need the money more than I need time off. Rates were super during last year's blitz. Keep in mind some states are sneaky and do their blitz the week before or after the official announced one.

NO they don't, I have a lot of issues with them, and know what I have to do to get by.

The problem with elds is that many are looking at the excuses for their creation but don't get that it isn't the problem, the HOS is.

We have technology we use (ELD) to record the HOS and even if it really outdated technology, it doesn't work as it should with the HOS we have and the HOS should have returned to the 1962 version which allowed us to operate as we need, not as what others think we need.

The disconnect is that the ELD should be thought of as progression, and people in this industry should be screaming about the HOS being tight and can't apply to everyone without something giving. Instead they are crying about the ELD and only that.

I don't have any technical issues at all with an Omnitracs EOBR. It's a shame so many people got roped in by con artist companies selling EOBR's that don't work. But this is trucking and really that could have been seen from a mile away. Omnitracs has only been doing this for 20 years or more now so that was a safe bet.

My only real complaints are being forced to use EOBR and the inflexibility/stupidity of regulations that have me driving drowsy where I used to safely (non-compliantly) get rest as needed. I'm perfectly compliant but more tired than I've ever been driving a truck in 18 years. It will be interesting to see the crash and fatality info after a year of this mandate. I'm betting crashes and fatalities will increase.

Me too. I am more worn and torn by sitting at truck stops for 14 - 17 hours nowadays than ramming 900- 1000 miles day. I used to ram 1000 day and boy I slept well after.

On short hauls the worst is coming off a drive cycle that went thru the night time then trying to sleep during the day. I used to try and reload ASAP after an early AM delivery from an all nighter then take a break and rest. Can't do that any more when hours are all gone. And more often than not end up missing out booking anything at all by the time I get off a break late evening. It's cost me plenty in lost revenue on reloads.
