Their lease deal, like most companies, sucks. I’d highly advise against it.

At the end of the day, after all expenses, the average gross weekly paycheck is $1250. And, that’s in a perfect world.

I made that as a company driver when I was there (left a couple of months ago).

I understand that, and appreciate your opinion. I know leasing may not be the ideal situation, and many have failed. However I personally know some who have been quite successful leasing trucks to build their fleet. Although they aren't with May, they are still leasing, and doing it well. I just don't know that business yet and want to get as much info as possible about May's in particular to see how it would work for me through them.

I know, or think I know, they lease their older trucks with around 220k-250k miles, and you don't have an option for a newer one with a steeper payment. However, do you know if I was able to lease from a dealer, would may let me do that? And do you know if their l/p is walk away or not?

They were leasing 2015s with anywhere from 200k to 450k when I left a couple of months ago.

Yes, you can buy or lease from anywhere and then lease your truck on with them.

Does anyone know what May's current CPM rate is for rookie drivers?

They just upped it to .38, as per my recruiter.

Frank -- they let you just bobtail home? How does that work? Do you pay for the fuel when you do that? If I want to spend home time occasionally with family in Tucson or Flagstaff, would they let me bobtail it there from PHX terminal you think?

I'm still at .35 as of today, will go up to .36 at the 6 month mark.

You will deadhead home for hometime most of the time, or at least I have anyway. Could work out to where you could bobtail, but you'll never pay for gas on the company side.
