Just great. The day before Roadcheck too!
The "glue" on my mount just gave out. My tablet keeps falling off the dash.
Probably a ticket right?
I guess I'll just hand it to them before they even get to the truck.
"Here you go, officer!"![]()
eLog needs to be mounted?

Go in the truck stop and get some Gorilla double sided tape.

Yeah, that's one thing I don't have to worry about...
Got about 50# worth of HD velcro that sticks my tablet onto that mount.Bank_Lbr Thanks this. -
"... Must be visible, without the officer entering the truck."
In all honesty... If you have the device in your hand (hopefully, putting the system in "Roadside Inspection Mode"), by the time Smokey walks up to your door, you should be fine. It's still a good idea to keep it mounted anyway.Oldironfan Thanks this. -
I have it mounted low on my dashboard, between the radio and the cup holders. If the officer in question is 4'8" I'd have to mount it on my sun visor!
(Actually at one point I did want it mounted overhead, like the CB, but wiring was an issue. Just too much work to bother.)
The other problem is we sometimes hot-swap and my truck is the only one (edit: the sleeper tractors) that have a blank spot on the dash for a 7" tablet. Our straight trucks and daycabs don't. Of course "my" truck is the only one set up for "my" tablet and unfortunately I've been jumping trucks a lot lately. That's part of what wore out the adhesive on the Velcro. Pulling it on and off the dash every time they ask me to use a different truck for the day.Bank_Lbr Thanks this. -
I has to be visible to the driver while sitting in the seat mouted in a holder. I also believe it has been able to unhooked and handed to the inspector. I have PeopleNet I thought was and ELD but Its really an AOBRD. My PeopleNet is mouted to the dash but can't be handed out window to inspector. It doesn't have a long cord. I have paperwork that says it's and AOBRD because it looks like ELD. I thought it was an ELD because it's locked down just like ELD but we can still move 2.5 miles without it doing anything
Bank_Lbr Thanks this. -

Now that it is summer using a IPAD to monitor the ELD the sun can quickly heat it up and cause it to shut down until it cools down. I am ordering a cheap tablet and saving the IPAD as backup. The app uses a lot of juice and needs to be plugged most of the time which causes it to be warm anyway, and having it mounted over the dash compounds the problem.

Am I imagining this, a couple of years ago I would have got into trouble for having a tablet open where I could view it. I guess it’s ok for those of you who drive down the road with feet up on the dash and phone in hand crowding my lane. Times are a changing.
