I've been out of a truck for awhile and getting back in. I have a few radios laying around but they're too old to have Bluetooth. I hate headsets. I'd consider one of those over-the-ear things, but I tried one and it hurt my ear so not super keen on that, but the one I had was a cheap pos so I'm sure there's better out there.
I'll be getting in a truck that'll be no older than 2 yrs - how standard is it that it'll have Bluetooth? Any info ya got on Bluetooth radios, over the ear pieces, etc would be appreciated, TIA!

Many trucks have mics built in now so your phone can Bluetooth to the radio for calls. I'm not sure how it works really. I use head set.
WildTiger1990 and chacha Thank this. -

I use this. When I don't need it on my head I hang it on the cb radio cord. Easy to quickly put it on and go. It does get uncomfortable if I wear it for maybe 3 hours straight. But I don't talk on the phone all that much. This unit works much better than trying to connect the phone to the truck speakers and microphone.chacha Thanks this. -
I'm going to fight the headset to the bitter end lol. Does anyone have a suggestion for a good over the ear piece that doesn't dig into your ear?
How about Bluetoothing thru the CB? I can see that being a pita for a longer convo, but I'm not into long phone conversations so I don't think I'd mind it. -
If you want a Bluetooth headunit, install it yourself(if allowed) I suggest Kenwood or pioneer, the units stock with the truck are terrible, literally had a brand new truck 2 months ago that the Bluetooth connection was crackly more than 10 feet from the unit itself, my Kenwood's, phone at back of trailer MIGHT lose signal
For phone calls I prefer the Jabra motion, (3years in my first one is finally dying) but keep it bone dry, when out sweating securing (and listening to music) I have an lg hbs910, it's decent for calls in the truck but not as good as the motion, the Plantronics Voyager series was good for the first 2 iterations, lasted 2 years at a go, at the "hd" mark, I'm lucky to get trouble free operation more than 3 monthschacha Thanks this. -
This is the best one I have used that is comfortable to wear. It hangs over the ear and has a cushion that rests against your ear. It's got some kind of technology that transmits the surrounding sound when your not talking on it so it is as if you don't have anything there, but when a call comes in, it is as silent as if you are cupping your hand over your ear. It even has an over the head attachment if you prefer that instead. I could never stand the over the head type myself.chacha Thanks this. -
Cobra 29 Bluetooth. Calls come in through mic, clear. I hate headsets as well.

I make/take calls all day long without a headset..........Kenwood head unit with an exterior mic mounted right above drivers sun visor................also makes listening to music/podcasts a breeze.
chacha Thanks this.
