I guess you bring piston uo to TDC before machining each hole ?
Where are you located ? (with my luck, you are a few hundred miles away,or thousands)

well I am shaken to read the latest update. we just managed to get Cat to agree to warranty six new injectors for my engine even though it is out of platinum warranty from the in frame rebuild. we have to eat the labour though, but happy to since it was such a struggle to get them to agree the problem was on them since the issue was brought to their attention well before the warranty had expired.

it sounds like it was better for at least a little while wasn't it?

Yes. was great for a while and right out of the blue it started again. CAT wants to do a air in fuel before and after the head test....again. To see if a O ring failed etc and is pumping combustion into the fuel in the head. Although im grateful for their continued help, im thinking its something else, and it was coincidental that the new injectors was associated with the temp fix, but what do i know, i only work on these things , reluctantly, every freakin weekend it seems.
I know one thing for sure, im tired, im frustrated, i want this over with....yesterday , a year before yesterday already. I would be happy with stumbling at this point, but its the rapid rise in coolant temps that bothers me, which says exhaust bleeding past injector O rings. Guess we will see
This weekend im pulling all fuel lines on supply side, to see if a flap accidentally was cut inside the lines at the fittings, when the fuel lines were installed last year.

    SAR Thanks this.

The reason the injectors fixed it for a while is because of the new O rings not letting combustion gas past into the fuel rail.

If you cut the seats in the head that will stop the combustion gas getting to the O rings and burning them up.

It's not the injectors or the Orings that are the issue. It's the seats in the head the injector seals against. There warped and need to be trued up .

I'm going out on a limb here but I'm going to say your higher then normal coolant temps are a result of the air getting into the fuel rail.

This will cause retarded injection timing . The injector is not full of fuel anymore. It's got air in it and the spray pattern will be broken up and late to the party. Retarded inj timing will cause higher coolant temps.
