Been driving commercially 20 years this month. I have deviated from it a few times to have a go in the repossession arena. I loved it! Before I got my CDL I did all sorts of work but mostly warehouse/forklift jobs. Driving runs in my family though. It's been a part of me since birth.

After I walked away from trucking the first time back in 2012 (only ever did some fast food before that), I ended up mostly driving cabs.
I decided to try getting back into trucking this year after (to name a few more memorable adventures) being choked with a seatbelt by a methhead on the way to detox, having a gun held to my head by a drunk veteran, and ultimately being forced out of the job by getting a misdemeanor after being accused of fraud/helping commit it by the (now ex) boyfriend of a regular fare of the company I drove for.

Insurance broker for 30 years with my own agency. Retired and became a museum curator for 3 years. Got bored and wanted to see the country more from the ground so I became a driver. Been doing it 2.5 years and now becoming an O/O with my own authority. When I get tired of that, who knows?

I was a farm hand all my life on my (late) dad's farm, and ran Vactor with him....and took it over when he passed away. Had a decent refuse (trash) route here in the country. Big guys took over....had to get my 'real' CDL and go do what I'm still doing for almost 30 years....
Dabbled in telecom industry somewhere in between, before all that got 'farmed' out... no pun.

    Oldironfan and rank Thank this.

I have been around trucks and equipment all my life even as a child with my father.

    With that being said:

    - I worked at a gas station
    - I impersonated a waiter (I was the absolute worst waiter in the history of waitering)
    - I worked at a clothing store
    - I did telephone sales for a terrible company
    - I worked for different contractors
    - I worked for different trucking companies and several different leasing companies
    - I had a contracting business for quite a few years
    - I became caretaker for my parents and ended up working for a mobile entertainment business
    - now I will be applying for my authority in hopefully a short period of time.

Eventually I may return to Contracting but I have to say although it can be lucrative, it is quite a grind. But whatever I do I'm going to start investing in real estate and I would like to start buying and selling trucks and equipment and parts.

And somewhere along the line I see myself on an island with three or four Island girls taking care of my every need and bringing me drinks and Fanning me... among other things :)

You can never go wrong if you follow my man Chinatown, lol
