My 2 cents. Buy old truck with rebuilt parts and bits.
Do you need electric logging down under?
Do you have a good mechanic That is trustworthy?
Series 60 or N14, or CAT 3406, are proven technology.

I think I like the idea of being an O/O because then I can have SOME control over things, set the truck up how I want it and continue to developer and mod it the way I want and keep it that way and take more pride in the prime mover and my work as aposed to just being treated like another number with the masses. Maybe I am being delusional! I grew up withrole models who cherished their rigs and the way they were presented. Maybe those days are gone. Having known people who own and operated freight companies, I know how people are treated like #### by them. I started as a loader as a second job in fright as a kid , was offered the easy path as an employee of the family connections but said no to make my own way in my previous industry. All I really want is :
A regular run from points to point b
A nice truck to drive
No manual handling of freight( busted body)
And to be paid on time while making a profit that won’t send me broke
No bosses looking over my shoulder and slinging me ####( too old and too smart to cop that stuff from idiots)
A night time overnight regular drive!
Now, I do expect to hear” that ain’t gonna happen idiot”.
But I DO want to hear your very appreciated and honest opinions.
Anyone want to be employed to run my trucks and teach me the ropes ?
Just an idea
Another quick question! Do companies dictate what year trucks O/O drive?
Maybe above IS un achievable?Last edited: Jun 24, 2018

I should have said do you use paper log booking, down under? Or how do you record driving time? Are you wanting to drive long trips?
