There is so many things wrong with your end of the bargain. First and foremost you let your emotions get the best of you in an industry where your body language can get you let go. Secondly, you should have trip planned properly using all tools available to find the shipper, best route, and know which roads aren't truck legal with an updated atlas, I personally use the Rand McNally.
Thirdly, you hitting public property is your own fault regardless, by getting upset as you had and clouding your driving your judgement you became reckless.

GPS especially in the city is not a good tool. Call the shipper/receiver for directions if you're lost.
