my son just went out to West Fargo North Dakota for a company called e w Wylie. During orientation my son discovers that one of his references don't know exactly what experience in a combination vehicle is therefore that rent rendered my son unable to take the job and the company reneged on the job. So as of today June 28th 2018 my son is stranded in Fargo North Dakota they will not help him get back home nor would they help him with shelter or food and my son lives in Maryland. Myself I think this is a bunch of s*** and I think something needs to be done about it you cannot leave people like this. My son went out there for orientation in hopes of having a truck to get back home and we have no money to help him as we're not rich and famous yet either. I think a huge company like this if they're going to fly you out then check your references after you've gotten out there instead of before I think they should be liable for your food your shelter and or Transportation back to where you came from someway somehow this is absolutely ridiculous. I have never been so livid in my entire life. And I'm an ex driver just so you know been there done that and I was never left like this ever.

That’s a bad situation no doubt. I’d think they’d at least foot the bus ticket home but if not I’m sure two grown adults should be able to scrape up that money

Have him call the Salvation Army: they sometimes help stranded people with bus tickets

Called " Bus and Dump". Hear it's a common thing among these trucking companies. If they don't like anything ,they abandon you.Seems bad if you're honest with the company before the orientation. It's not wise to go anywhere without the wherewithal to return home. Never depend on anyone else.

$83 from Fargo, ND to Boston, MA/ If you can't afford that Wylie is the least of your concerns.....

Maybe cancel your phone and/or internet for a month and you'll have the money. Why should your poor life choices be Wylie's problem?

That being said, Wylie can afford it, but to play Devil's Advocate. Why should they spend yet more money on a person they see as lying on their application?

Bad situation. I have only been driving for two years now. But from day one I have learned to follow rule # 1. Look out for yourself because no one else is. Hopefully he gets home safe. Have him apply for a personal credit card and file it away and use it only for situations like this. The learning curve is steep in this business. Be ready for anything .

If he has no problem pulling a reefer have him call Holland Enterprises or Great Plains Transport. They're both in Mapleton ND. About 8 miles west of Fargo. Always looking for drivers. Decent equipment. There is also CMT out of Mapleton. Affiliated with Great Plains. They do flatbed and whatnot. Those companies actually have some fairly decent folks working there. I have never taken a call from Wylie or responded to anything they have sent me. Apparently they can not take a hint. Have heard nothing but bad things about Wylie. Best of luck.
