I don't blame the OP.
There's only 2 or 3 people that I've trucked with and around for YEARS that I would trust enough to lay down and go to sleep behind.
Much less be new.. made 1st seat.. and expected to train some Bozo that's probably got a personal vehicle with all the fenders caved in.
No way.

How can they FORCE you to sign with a specific company before training, anyway??
Did USX pay for the training?

If not.. tell em to pound sand.

 

Should of never felt pressured to sign up with anyone based on schools' opinion. Do what you want not what they want

 

Happens dozens of times, every day, with many companies.
It's not the end of the world; either go back and put up with it, or find a new company.

@Bubbahyde, do you have a copy of that 'non compete agreement'? They gave you a copy of everything you signed. If you don't mind, cover over your personal info and post it. I would like to see it.

Get the exact date that your trainer was running on your clock and write a letter to the president of US Express and tell him the trainer was forcing you to violate the Hours of Service by running on your clock and telling you to lie and THE LAW gives you the right to refuse to violate a DOT regulation. Then ask for another trainer so you can do what it takes to pay your loan off.

 

For some reason, you mentioned trainer and I was thinking that this trainer was with USExpress, and you had gotten through orientation a signed with USX. They would have you sign something completely different from the schools. USX owned the school?

 

Just a bunch of random thoughts so if you don't get it, read it again.

First these are not trainers, they are not even mentors, they are just opertunists who make a little extra with you in the truck.

Second non-compete, worthless as it seems to be, has an effect of scaring the hell out of people. The fact is they can't stop you from working at another company, you have a CDL and it isn't like you are taking sales away from them.

Third thing that really PISSES me off is this bs with "trainers" who say "OH we do that all the time" when it comes to HOS. HOS IS YOURS and yours alone, you can't allow anyone to drive logged under your NAME, NO ONE including that guy in the White House. SO I have told others who are faced with this situation is to have safety's number in their phone and when something that doesn't seem right, like this crap, call them and ASK them to tell you which way it is. Act Naive, act like it is all confusing and tell them what exactly the guy said and tell them (in your case) when he logged onto your log against your wishes and drove, telling them he was pissed you even questioned it (little white lie). You should throw the trainer under the bus by acting naive, screw him because he is putting YOUR cdl at risk and you need to do everything you can to protect it. I would in your case still do that right now, I would ask them if this is company policy that someone can drive under your log, and when they say no, then tell them that the trainer told you that it was and he was mad when you were confused about the issue, so he didn't seem to give a crap to train you any more.

Safety as much as they are idiots to drivers, you can use them to protect your ****.

I would just quit.

If they ask, put it in a letter and send it to them.
