maybe take that as a lesson learned and move on. I dont wish to sound cruel, but your time on the road for them is gone, your money owed is gone but also your "obligation" (eg. agreement to run for them) is gone too.....so, you are free.

You've been burned, now you know the deal - do you really want to jump back in that lake ? do you want to lose more ? recognize that sometimes promises are not promises but lies. Cut your loses, find another ride or change direction all together. You will never know unless you try, and you wont find anything better unless you look around- it's not going to try to find you.

If you intend to go through court system looking for justice, it will be very stressful until resolution, it could be very expensive, for little gain at great financial risk and you can be assured they will have retained a lawyer who will have a background of wins defending their practices. Further, they can go after you for damaging their reputation. I recall, there was a post on another trucking forum where the driver posted what we could recognize is the real deal with many otr trucking firms (highlight) - not long after the post was edited by the op from damming to praise- now, why do you think that happened ?

I was stuck too- and I admit I got lucky, very lucky- but not without effort. Im not an otr guy anymore, but I still come around from time to time, see whats new and try to show the other side of the coin from my experience.
Everyones situation is different - what is right for me, will be wrong for someone else and vice versa. Just's just the way it is. But that is your opportunity- not everyone is going to want to do, or, be as good as you at whatever- so find your groove and move.
    You have an open road

Did they know about the situation with the family emergency? I left a truck at a truck stop for three weeks during a family emergency. After the three weeks i got back in the truck and went to work.
The company i was working for said family first i can move freight later.

No doubt guys get sucked in by what they consider a "opportunity" to drive a dressed up truck and earn scads of money. You are not impressing anyone. Then the bitter reality sets in.
From where I sit it the view is the same, does not matter what the truck looks like or its brand.

If you do over 13k miles you should be able to take home close to 7k.

So basically 50 cents a miles if you run your butt off. lol
