I looked around for a steer tires reviews but nothing recent. I had a post just bit ago how Bridgestones are falling apart and a lot of guys are having problems. Taking my size into consideration, what do you consider to be the best steer - not just a brand name but something that lasted a while and didn't give you any problems.
Also, which ones you had bad experience as well....

Personally, I've always installed the (IMO) best steer tire I could afford. I've had good service from Michelin tires.

My truck likes the R283 the best.

I just changed out my Michelin steers for new Michelin again. Old were xza3+ new are xze (i think). 371,000 km and change. Or about 230,000 miles. My cost per mile is about .004usd or about .005 cdn. Spendy up front, but always wear evenly and last a long time. This is on a 389 where steer weight ranges from 11000-11600.

I read those comments of guys having lots of problems with R283 Ecopopias but they roll smooth as silk on my truck the past year+ and so far so good. Kind of ticks me off though because it seems like every time I think i have found a good steer tire I'll get like one good set and then the second set is garbage. I was big on Goodyear G399's until I got a set that was way out of round with a bunch of shimmy and shakes. Not even 50,000 miles out of those tires. New R283's fixed it. I might just go the extra expense for Michelins when these Bridgestones wear out though. No-one ever seems to complain about their quality or longevity.

I'm thinking of giving Yokohamas a try next time I buy steers. I've read a lot of good about them here on TTR.

Both my current truck and the last one run Bridgestone 283A H rated steer. Getting really good wear out of them.

I have ran Yokohama a couple of times and always had good luck with them.

I put XZE's on my Pete this time, no comparison in the way they ride compared to the Generals it had. With about 12000 miles though it's too early to tell long term

My dad runs them on the steers and they've held up to the abuse of the northeast

I've run Yoko's on the steers, but the last two sets have been Michelins (xza3 and now Xez). The Michelins are more forgiving if you aren't super diligent about tire pressure, and we ended up with about 70,000 more miles out of the Michelins. The Yoko's would wear irregularly to the point we'd take them off around 120K miles.
