They said that it had to do with CF's hub and spoke system they had to run freight redundant miles. Meaning it had to go to a break bulk and then from there get resorted and shipped back to where it came from almost. I'm just telling you what they said. Now, CF did say they were worried about "double breasting" which means exactly what you said. Why would an LTL company start up a series of companies that pretty much did exactly what they did. It seemed redundant to me and I know they knew it was redundant. But yes the regional companies did indeed cut out the big CF and in 1996 CF was spun off.

I'm not aiming my comments at you directly, Im just commenting on pretty much any explanation from CF execs that didnt include gutting CF to escape the union.

What's funny is they bought out Penn Yan Express in the early 1980s and PYX was a union outfit and CF execs didn't want that, but for some reason they went ahead about bought that company anyhow and they lost all kinds of money on it. But you are right they didn't want the "Con-Ways" to be unionized.

That was the first Ad CCX had when they entered into the Greenbay Market.

@taodnt did you ever ship anything with CCX back in the day when they were brand new in Wisconsin. And if so what did you think of there regional high grade high service LTL fast freight 1-2 day regional service?

So I was reading CCX the first day in business the Toledo, Ohio terminal had 2 tractors and 6 trailers. There first shipment at the Toledo, Ohio terminal was a box the size of a parcel almost it was for a glass company it was going from Toledo to Pittsburgh. The CCX manager who ran the Toledo, Ohio terminal at the time, took the box down town to the Toledo, Ohio Greyhound station and they shipped the shipment Greyhound bus from Toledo, Ohio to Pittsburgh, PA the manager at the CCX terminal in Pittsburgh picked the package up at the bus station, put it on a CCX truck and delivered it. That was the first ever CCX shipment out of the Toledo, Ohio terminal.

Sorry no, the main reason was my career was in IT, not logistics. Some of my automotive manufacturing consulting clients may have but I cannot vouch for that at this time.
