Hi there!
I'm a student in Chicago doing a project on the trucking industry. Does anyone have 15 or 20 minutes to talk to me about the driver life, what you love about it, what you don't love about it, etc? Please respond here and we can set up some time to chat. Thanks!

I asked a similar question and got one response from these yayhoos. Might be easier to ask one question at a time over a few days. They'll give you their opinion, but none of them seem to want to talk in private. I'm not a driver yet, so I can't help, except with wisdom I have acquired from reading this site and a couple others.
MaizeNBlue88 Thanks this. -
Now, if they want to post a list of questions here I will answer them, but in today's day in age, with id theft as rampant as it is, people would be crazy to divulge any personal info over the internet. I will answer any question, as long as I don't have to give personal details like name, etc.Suspect Zero and Lav-25 Thank this. -
Try this, friend:
Go to the Petro truck stop
3001 Grant St
Gary IN
Tomorrow, 12 noon. Go into the restaurant and sit at the lunch counter. Talk to the drivers and the wait staff face to face. You should have all your questions answered, have a good time, eat well, and even get some pictures. Win win for you.Texas_hwy_287, peterbilt_2005, TheyCallMeDave and 12 others Thank this. -

With a name like that any fan of every other Big 10 team will say “nah, go jump”.Jwhis Thanks this. -
You’re sitting at the lunch counter listening. One of the drivers starts volunteering employment history. That’s the guy you want to avoid. One guy will tell stories of gloom and doom and how bad things are out here and whatnot...everything he says is negative. He is a FearMonger. Ignore him too. One guy will talk about how much he hates trucking, hates his life and hates living in a truck. Yet, here he is still driving. He is a Loser. Ignore him and hope whatever caught isn’t contagious.
The guy you’re looking for is satisfied. He likes his job, he likes income, he likes his life. This is the guy you take notes from.
“Hey Six, why wouldn’t you want me to listen to the guy that starts volunteering employment history?”
Because he’s an idiot in search of an audience. He starts off with the employment history to put himself above his audience as if he is the expert. And then, he’s going to start talking down in a condescending tone to everyone that listens. The guy you want to talk to is confident in his trade and doesn’t feel the need to do this.
The FearMonger will just repeat stories that he’s heard other people say. Idiot.
The Loser is in the biz because he can’t do anything else. Waste of oxygen.peterbilt_2005, #wishfulthinking, Kyle G. and 4 others Thank this. -
