I see. He must work for what I like to call McDonald companies. Each terminal acts as its own franchise, even though it is the same company. (and not a franchise). This causes each terminal to be managed differently and sometimes showing favoritism. Thanks for the information. I enjoy collecting data on situations to have a better understanding of what truckers are going through out there.

    SingingWolf is right.
To expand to try to help you. Also... I should have walked out right at the start. Indications it was awful. I gave them a chance. But once you’re in there past two weeks. It looks really bad to quit before a year. I took a hit on my license for safety reasons. Several tickets for things like trailer not registered, not 6 chains in Oregon, worn tire. That is amongst all I fixed, and had fixed on the road. The attitude there was awful. I’d have stuff fixed on the road. I didn’t want to waste a whole day listening to the mechanics S! just for something that takes less than an hour. From run one, to the last, it was constant problems.
That and complete disregard for me and home time. Told him first time on the phone; I would not accept the job if it meant living in a truck stop in Denver. I called this Manager I’m working for now; I was on a 34 at a truck stop in Denver. Scheduled to deliver in two days, a run that put me within 3 miles of my home. Stop by home at all? Nope...

Actually it has to do with the Terminal Manager.
Here my terminal manager is actually a Division Manager over many small terminals. There are three of us here at this terminal.
I am rather happy I stuck it out. It is working good now. Making good money. Not sitting in a truck stop three days a week. My Manager gets me my time off. He did so right at the start after having lived in a truck stop in Denver for three months.

    Lepton1 and SingingWolf Thank this.

This is my Quest to follow that star,
No matter how hopeless, no matter how far,
    To fight for the right
    Without question or pause,
To be willing to march into hell
    For a heavenly cause!

DBase, SingingWolf and Lepton1 Thank this.

It’s great when the only reason I reset is because I have too much time to make recaps work.
    Don’t count the money
When you’re sittin’ at the wheel
There’ll be time enough for countin’
    When the drivin’s done
EDIT: I got my 10, after midnight, and I got a whopping 57 minutes I can drive. Now that’s cause to not recap, and to reset.

Got a great example of comprehension in the law.
I was on I70 in the mountains yesterday.
    Driving empty.
One of those 6% grades going downhill.
Had the 45 mph for vehicles 26k gvwr. 65mph for others.
I figured the intent of the 45 mph wasn’t for me because I was empty. I know technically any Barney Fife could nail me for over 45.
Well... I was keeping just under 65. Using my engine brake. I went a long ways without even touching my brakes.
The other cars went above 65 and away from me.
One car was sitting back about 1/3 mile behind me.
I came to a point that I hit 65 and pumped my brakes to stay below that. Then the truck to speed up quicker than I liked. So I stabbed the brakes real quick like. Truck held well, below 65.
I didn’t know that one car holding back was a cop. He sped past me at this time.
I realized he was watching me. Considering everything. Answering questions within the context of the law.
One... wondering if my brake lights were even working. Since I was using brakes hardly at all.
Two... I was definitely empty. Couldn’t run like that if I were loaded.
Three... No actual reason to nail me for 65 in a 45. I was doing a good job of staying below 65. Good control over the truck. No safety reason to follow the 45. Which is what it is for. That is the law for what it is intended.
Edit: After all. What are they supposed to do with that speed limit sign? Keep carrying on and post a book on that sign? There is always a law in every state that you drive for the conditions. Which applies above. You’re expected to use comprehension and be a good driver. One other example of this law is in construction. When nobody is there. Are you really expected to slow down? On the other hand. In construction that is posted 35mph speed limit. Then you get close to people working on the road. It’s common horse sense to slow down more than posted. I recently got within 5feet of guys working. I slowed to 5mph in a posted 35mph.
