There’s nothing wrong with wearing shorts and sandals if you’re not dealing with customers.
Why wear long pants and work boots if you’re just gonna drive 500 some miles all day?

I have coworkers who wear shorts year round, unless the temp is below 20 deg.. No thanks, I prefer my skin attached. Few years back when I was doing that every two week garage door run, even with jeans on, I scraped the hell out of my leg when I lost hold of a door. The jeans didn't tear, but I had a "rug burn" that seeped blood for two days and took three months to heal. Had I been wearing shorts, I'd been visiting the hospital.

Probably most drivers back then were under 200lbs and had forearms like Popeye because no power steering.

My baseball cap says freightliner on it. I have one of the Snowman CAT hats also. I found it on the ground in Brooklyn Iowa. Finders keepers.

If you ever find yourself in an emergency situation, involved in or witness to an accident that might require a quick response from you, you might rethink the shorts & sandals then. I understand that it's a "Comfort" thing, but I won't sacrifice safety for comfort. When I started trucking, jeans & boots were mandatory. Though some of those boots were cowboy boots, not work boots. After wearing them for a while I got used to them and after 30 years, that is what I'm most comfortable in while driving. Just as shorts and sandals will be what you're most comfortable in if that's what you wear most of the time. Before I started driving, I used to wear skirts & high heels, and that's what I was most comfortable in until I got into trucking.

You’re right, I’ve been so wrong these last 12 years dressing for comfort.
Here should be the mandatory truck driver uniform because “what if?”
