    Start easy...

    Try local, then regional.

I almost went OTR (in pursuit of experience), but luckily, fate led me away.

Now I do OTR (3 days out) with my own truck, and could not be happier.

Dont rush it, dont let recruiters snag you in. Good Luck!

I dont mind Otr, leaving home for awhile. I think it will be good. I'm very bored and a lot of days frustrated with my current job. So I'm Ready to go...

Ever heard the phrase "Out of the frying pan and into the fire"...

Dont let frustrations of current situation push you into haste decisions...

You ready for dispatchers to yank you around, esp as we head into winter?

Otr has it good and bad moments, just like anything else. There is nothing like waking up to watch the sun rise over the Rockies or in the plains states. Even though the North East sucks I loved New Hampshire, it is so beautiful. Winter can be difficult, but if you're smart about it you will be fine.

I will give you one piece of advice, no one ever gives noobies before they hit the open road, and it causes a lot of them issues....

Remember that life does not stop just cause you are on the road. You may miss family get togethers or going out with friends on the weekend. Might even miss Christmas or Thanksgiving. I missed both of them in the same year one year. I had my wife with me, so it made it easier, but life doesn't stop just cause you are not there. Something to consider while you are making your decisions.

I loved otr. If I was single and had no committments I would hit the road again in an instant. But, I am a loner. I don't need much human interaction. A phone call and a few days off ever 5 to 6 weeks and I am good. But being married, and loving my wife more and knowing it would kill us to be seperated for that long, I stay local.

yeah, the fee's is what i'd be concerned about. or an expiration date.

i'd rather have a debit card.
