How does one best handle stopping on a hill with an Eaton Ultrashift? Will using low gear mode make me be able to stop and not roll back and not kill the engine?

The primary question would be why are you stopping.
-
If I am stopping at a light off the freeway and its on an incline to continue in the city...
-
Just let it do it’s job.
Assuming it’s an older truck?
Most have hill assist so you can’t roll back.
But when I had a etn automatic I use to hold the brake while giving it throttle then when it starts jerking forward I release brake and go on.
Now if it’s a newer truck. They’re made smart so I’d just let it do it’s thing -
Yep what SMD said..I drove an older one for awhile and used the brake,/throttle trick..what really took getting used to for me was bumping docks in the auto..

well if it has a clutch then hold brake while releasing clutch until it starts to grab forward then just add throttle.
The more you think about it the harder you make it on yourself. -
Just move button to 1st gear and get revs up to shift point and put it back in 2ed then let it shift auto from there
-
For the most part, just like any truck.
May have to make sure it is in first gear, stopped hold brakes, feed on throttle to get started, let off brakes when it starts to pull. Keep easy on throttle so it will pull at reasonable RPM and not over or under run the RPM. -
Wouldn't this screw up my clutch over time though?
