Been thinking about a newer truck ( currently 2001 F/Liner for 10 years ), but all these newer trucks just look awful to me. No class about them. Nothing that says ' I AM A TRUCK".
I see some pretty looking rides, but they all look like over-grown cars to me, no classic look.
I also see all the problems some of this newer technology stuff comes with, and simply decided while they may be fuel efficient, comfortable, easier to drive, and shiny, I just do not care for anything made after about 2005.
Anybody else dis-like these newer trucks ?

They are tools, nostalgia has no place in business.

I have several older "classics" and I would never use them to make money, too much work.

There is definitely a time and place for all things. Today it is fuel economy, that long nose hood is a thing of the past unless you need one for a certain application like oil field work or heavy haul, etc.

I miss my hoods though, but would be foolish to own one. Not for what I do.

Miss my 379 Pete with a 2006 C13 CAT! Surely 'the company' sold it as soon as I quit! If there's a "driver shortage" surely it's because the industry refuses to admit it's the EPA that's killing them! Read somewhere that 'new truck orders' are backlogged, at an all-time high. So just how many 18 to 20-year-olds are gonna be "ex-military" anyway?

This one ain't spending 11 to 13 hours a day in a techno-electric controlled piece of JUNK! Aside from noisy radiator fans and erratic shifting the chief problem I see with the new "automatics" is drivers start to think they can race 4-wheelers, be "maniac" just like them! If running city/local I definitely got better fuel mileage with a 9-speed manual!

what you can do, and IT IS a viable option, is order up an option that IS available at ALL truck dealerships, then cruise like it's 1999.....

here is what ALL dealerships have as an option:

Why would the oil fields require a long nose?

They don't, but many outfits prefer them for ease of maintenance. Also, the hoods, Pete's in particular, are a bit sturdier than say a Coronado. They are built for more extreme conditions. And I have driven all in the oil field, the Pete is the truck to have in my mind, just from personal experience. Especially if you are putting a driver in the truck.
