Just hate the way these newer trucks look

    There are a many many other differences than that. They are only similar if you are trying to compare one to a an aero truck. So yes, a 389 more closely resembles a 379 than a cascadia. But that's where the similarities end.

    I see your point but to say they look NOTHING alike is beyond stretching it. They're all very similar just like the generations of the 359.

    Its all in what was ordered. Lightweight truck = lightweight frame. Just because its a Cascadia doesn't automatically mean it will have a light frame. They spec those trucks to pull super b's out here (8 axles) and likely have them built with heavier frames than the ones that pull 5 axle loads.

    Interesting. Learn something new every day. I've never seen one with a stout frame before. I've never even seen one pulling any type of permit load before either. You still have to specify on a Crapcadia something that comes standard on Paccar trucks though.

    When you order a truck you can spec pretty much everything, even what kind and size of bolts go through the frame rail. Seriously speccing a truck can take a week working 8 hours a day with a good salesman.

    Other than the passenger step literally everything from the cowl of the cab back is identical. And I really doubt that those who had a 379 and moved to a new 389 really felt like they were driving a totally different truck.

    Well i went to spec a new glider a few years back. Sat in one for five minutes and said "nope this ain't a 379".

    And sorry, from the cowl back it is NOT the same. The only thing that is the same is that the aluminum shell of the cab came from the same mold. Everything attached to that shell is different.

    I remember sitting in the sales office with my dad ordering a couple trucks. They had a 3 ring binder full of colour samples. Had to have been about 100 or so to choose from. So many options to choose from.

    Typically it seems that its the fleets that spec Cascadias so they go cheap and lightweight on everything. I think @uncleal13 mentioned he has a heavy spec Cascadia.
