    I'll settle the 379 vs.389 debate..

They're both ugly, overpriced, overrated, and no better than a Crapcadia

Long FLD and AModelCat Thank this.

So by omission you admit the 359 is the best and most beautiful truck ever produced.

Pete 367 is the best looking Pete IMO.

Ok, let me ask you this.

I do know there are some 379’s running around both without vent windows and with the mirrors mounted on tha cab vs the door.

Barring those, and those hideous 389 headlights, what else is different on a 389?

The interior of the cab was already going the plastic 389 direction in the late model 379’s. More plastic, rockers instead of toggles, that all started before the 389. They started down the road to junk interior a couple years before the 389. It’s not like Pete came out with a totally redesigned truck. They took what they had and engineered what they needed to in order to make it work with emission motors.

Nothing stays the same over time, a new W9 is totally different than one from 20 years ago. They’ve changed the dash twice, daylight doors, all kinds of stuff, but it’s “basically” the same truck it always has been.

Peterbilt taking the vent windows out was bad enough, but at least they didn’t go full sellout with those awful daylight doors.

    Long FLD Thanks this.

Literally everything. The hood is not only 4 inches longer its cast from a completely different mold. Different slope, different fenders, even the sides of the rear of the hood (the part closest to the steps when shut) is different, it's swept forward vs vertical. Fenders are mounted in a different location due to length change. The grill is different, its not only more rounded its a one piece grill vs 3 piece riveted.

Moving on to the cab: the doors are different. If you look at the door window you will see a change in the angle, it's not much difference but it's different. The roof has a slightly different angle, similar to the hood, it's aerodynamic "improvement". The entire interior is different. From the door panels to the dash to the hole in the floor to access the transmission. The only thing the same is the base aluminum mold of the cab (roofs are added after)

I don't know about the sleeper changes. i was interested in a stretched day cab to send to ict so didn't research or even ask about sleeper options.

To answer your question about the mirrors and vent window. That was changed at the same time. The vent window went away, and the mirrors was moved from door to cab. not sure if it was 05 but was definately done by 06.

I'm aware of the interior changes during the 379s run. However they changed everything again with the 389.
