They had a mix of both when I was there. The old generation Peoplenet isn't considered an ELD by the DOT. It is considered an AOBR (or is it an EOBR) and doesn't meet the requirements of the ELD mandate. I only know this because we are getting all new Peoplenet units as well.

We’ve got an authorization letter that we carry in our permit books pertaining to the peoplenet.
Has to do with some kind of technicality regarding the fact that the Qualcomm has a cord that enables the operator to hand to a LEO outside the vehicle whereas the peoplenet is a fixed unit that can’t be removed.

How did this driver even try to make that curve? Stop the truck. Turn on flashers. Set out triangles. Call cops to help you back out.
