You’re not entirely wrong. Going from being able to do whatever I wanted to having to do things by the book when I went back to flatbed was a tough adjustment for me. But after about a month I settled in and everything was fine. I actually had to plan my days instead of just winging it. The hardest part was talking to my brother and other guys in KS I ran cattle with and at times I’d find myself wishing I could do what I wanted. But then I’d remind myself that I have a life away from the truck now, I have money in the bank from selling equipment, and I have no desire to run 6-7k a week anymore.

I say let them charge. Let truck stops be great again. If it means parking spaces will begin to generate revenue than it means truck stops all around the country will see their profits steadily grow with the adoption. Stop feeling as if you're entitled to free parking just because you've been out here for decades. Things are changing buttercups.

We got his type around here too, their parents started the trucking business and these kids grew up into it and now they think they're so special. If it wasn't for that then they'd be on welfare.

You know what they say ... if want to keep the riff raff out and improve the class of your clientele, raise the price of beer past $5.00. In the case of something that’s free for most, then charge admission.

KWs should have to park in the mud way out back with everyone who pulls a reefer.

Last I knew, Truck Stops are not charities. They are a business, providing a service. I keep reading how drivers hate doing things for free and want to be paid for all work ( services ) yet some are gonna complain about a Truck Stop wanting to get paid for providing a service??? Just like companies and O/O's, they are capitalizing on supply and demand. There was a time when the vast majority of drivers ate at a truckstop, I did, these days.... a fridge, microwave or toaster oven....I never eat inside. I don't shop there either. Hell, I don't even wanna use the crapper!!!!

One time it really came in handy. Late in the day in Sumner, WA, I had a little over an hour left on my clock and it was one hour to the TA in North Bend. No way am I going up there at five in the afternoon without knowing I have a guaranteed parking spot. It was either that or pay for a spot at that crappy truck stop in Sumner. Either way I was paying.

If needed I pay as I understand it’s a business ... too many times you see someone fill at a truckstop then drive to the other one to park.. I’d guess that less than 50% of the free parking spends nothing in the store
