And can we use I76 in PA if it’s not on our “suggested route”?

 

Every “suggested route” makes my trip 10-45 miles longer.

 

I76 is best to use in moderation. Last I knew, it cost a dollar per mile in a truck. Pretty sure it's more expensive now.

If you have to roll on it a few miles to take a decent alternate route, they probably won't care much. Roll 100 miles on it and you might get a grumpygram.

 

Most of the time, the suggested routes are a few miles shorter than the routes I take, but take a bit longer to drive.

 

If none of the information tossed at you here has made a difference, then I'll throw three more things at you.

First, make sure your tractor brakes are enabled. If, for some reason, you set trailer brakes and not tractor brakes, the opti-idle system will not work.

Second, make sure you are not pushing the stick shift around as you get back in the sleeper. If you push it into a gear slot, even if it does not engage, it will mess up opti-idle.

Third, call breakdown and see if they can explain it better. If that doesn't work, roll the truck to a terminal and have a mechanic show you and check for faults.

Does the truck turn on, but not cool, or it it completely failing to start automagically?

 

I was sooo having a grumpy day with lack of sleep for days and the suggested routes are not explained very well. I even called my TM and spoke to him. After explaining the suggested routes he still hasn’t gotten back to me and that has been weeks ago.
My opti idle finally worked!!! I can’t believe I slept 7 hours straight. The problem was I was setting the cold hand dials to the mid point when they should be on full cold. Boy, 60 degrees is cold. lol

Alternate way out of the Harrisburg area west is up 322 to state college then 99 io to 80 west to ohio..

 

Remember that most of the office staff we speak to have little or no actual driving experience. They also don't have the authority to tell you to ignore company policy without a very good reason.

Drive safely, without lots of out of route miles or excessive, avoidable, expensive toll road miles, and chances are that nobody is going to gaze grumpily in your direction.

 

I’m in Virginia on 81 going to Chicago. Shouldn’t I use 68?

 

You said you just went across 76... So how could you be in Virginia ?
