Is millis transfer still a good company too work for

All depends on what you and your trainer decide to do. My personal experience was my trainer letting me grind out the whole 15 thousand miles in 4.5 weeks straight in which time he drove a total of like 300 miles. I let him know when he picked me up that I would rather just grind it out as fast as possible so I could move into my own truck asap. Now if you and your trainer take a couple home times over the course of your 15k miles you'll probably run about 6-6.5 weeks.

 

Lots of good info here. I was just told the midwest and texas regional now get .50cpm from the recruiter. does anyone know if they run out of Iowa?

 

Texas regional i know gets .50cpm but thats a new 1 to me bout midwest regional too. Not saying its not true but noone has said that to us and my last 3 students have all went regional. What part of Iowa? We dont have a ton of freight out there but there is some in Shelby, Davenport, Dubuque and we pick up out of Ames. Did you ask the recruiter if you're in the hiring area?

 

Thanks for your reply boss. I am looking at moving so was deciding on (currently in California and work options and cost of living out here aren't good) between Iowa and Ohio and where would be best if I was with Millis. Yes, recruiter told me "you would make about the same" on Midwest regional as Texas. Actually she said Texas is .51cpm, just looked at the emails. If I went to Iowa, was looking at Des Moines/Ames/Davenport to live in. Iowa looks like a nice place to live.

 

Hmmm I'll have to inquire about that. I really dont know how far west our hiring area goes but if iowa is in it then there are worse places to live. I live in IL bout 45mins from Davenport and love it at Millis. The closer to Davenport you got the better off youd be as far ease to get you home for hometime. Also if close to Davenport and go thru Richfield school odds are I'd be your trainer( im assuming you're new?)

 

Ahh, ok, thanks for the info. Yes, I'm a newbie, Millis seems like a great company and I am so thankful that I kept digging and researching and didn't go with Schneider etc. I am debating between Millis and TMC, I know, two very different things, and am thinking it is best to start with dry van and get my miles and experience in. I just don't like the idea of changing jobs after a year, not my style. TMC is a plus because of the weekly hometime (wife and baby) and I like how the percentage of the load pay is set up there. Millis seems like you can run your face off and if you bust your hump they will give you all the miles you want. I am getting into this career and plan on doing it as long as I am able and willing to grind and pay my dues. Trying to get a grasp on how different OTR vs Midwest regional miles and pay would be.

 

You definitely cant go wrong with Millis. Ive been here over 2.5yrs and dont see myself leaving anytime soon OTR vs Regional you're going to get more miles weekly OTR but Regional definitely has its perks. I know they were offering .04cpm on regional if you made yourself available to work every other weekend which helps offset the less miles.

 

I know Ohio is a good place for regional, especially in Trenton. Don't know about Iowa. I think midwest regional runs out of WI.

 

It's pretty odd to see Millis trucks west of the Mississippi River, even in Minnesota and Iowa. Most of them that are are headed to TX, they occasionally go to California too.

 

Well I ran GA regional and every time I went to WI I wound up in MN. Went into MN when I was OTR too. I think their regional drivers in WI run MN quite a bit.
