I don't like the new TK's, The "Evolution" series. They don't keep things cool when it's 90+ outside, even when you close the bunk curtains and shade the front windshield.
It's like they cut corners to make more profit. I think if you stay comfortable with the Dynasys then just keep it. or find an old TK from 2012 or so to rebuild. I don't think the new ones even use a pound of "freon/coolant' anymore.

I have an Evolution, 2 1/2 years old now and it keeps my truck perfectly comfortable in the upper 90's so far. And with a black truck I consider that pretty good. It may depend on the quality of the installation and keeping everything in the AC system in good order.
thaistick Thanks this. -
I had the new tk Evo but the truck I just purchased has the older tk on it but shows a code of low freon so I will get it checked out and see which one is the better.

I've got a Dynasys and it works good but I'd rather have a pre emission series 60 Detroit and just let it idle.
whoopNride and thaistick Thank this. -

Show me a study from Detroit, Cat, or Cummins that states idling your idle causes premature wear....
I've got 1.28 million miles, and from the regular oils samples and oil consumption I'm far from it's first inframe.
$10k+ on an apu would almost pay for a rebuild.whoopNride and RStewart Thank this. -
So when you engine idles there is no wear? I'm not going to be baited into an argument that has no merits.
There has been plenty of research done showing the adverse effects of idling. You are free to believe what you want.back street slider, drvrtech77 and p608 Thank this. -
RStewart Thanks this.

Realistically how many hours a day/week do you idle?
