So I'm in the market for a used Cascadia as my second truck, and I was thinking of buying from a Fleet Sales, specifically either Werner or Schneider in Dallas.

Has anybody gotten through this process before? Any pros or cons of doing this versus going to the dealer?

Here's my thinking: I don't see why why an owner-operator would sell a newish 400,000 MI truck unless there was something majorly wrong with it. Meanwhile when I was a company driver with Werner I've had perfectly good reliable trucks pulled out from under me just because it was time to sell them... is there anything wrong with my line of reasoning?

Nope. And you can get an accurate service history. They probably PM them on time too. If it's clean idle they are going to have lots of time on them, but mine only idles at 625.

Buy one from someone getting out of owning a truck.
That's all I'm going to say.

And how does one find such people, especially honest ones? Not everyone comes from a trucking family or has a ton of trucking Buddies...

Also, I would be worried that somebody getting out of trucking would have been neglecting maintenance for a while because he does not worry about long-term

    Dont rush.
My opinion does not matter I would never buy a DEF truck. But I'm just a driver.

You haven't seen the freight rates out of LA lately I guess. I'm hauling Hazmat to Dallas right now for 3.50 a mile. So y'all please go ahead and keep your old beaters, more freight for me.

I respect old trucks, it's beautiful to see them on the road, but I also like the West Coast and I like the option of profitablyspending my winter on I-10 instead of being stuck in the blizzard
