You fix it Dave. I’m sitting on the edge of my seat waiting for you to unfold your plan to the world of your peers. Clearly, given your level of sarcasm, you must have the answers that indisputably reflects the best laid plan. And, by the way, I applaud ANYONE in this industry that made it to the billionaire category. You, me, we all...... certainly have been provided with an equal opportunity as an American to get there...... give us some insight to the ax you seem to want to grind with hard working, entrepreneurial, innovative, risk-taking capitalists.

Tucker..... you’re right - it will happen once the revenue model makes sense. Private development is the only way it will happen because public funding is out of the question. States are far too financially constrained and it’s the very reason they are closing rest areas. Even though each State gets federal funding for transportation purposes, those funds always go to roads and bridges because they are a state’s top priority due to a lot of deferred maintenance.

Yes and no. A fair amount of fuel tax goes to areas other than roads and rest areas.

But probably a discussion for another day.

  7. I posted this on another one I'm not going to post a novel or of log size reply just simply I don't like it but I do like to sleep at night as I'm almost 50 and I'm getting old and I just a lot the money on the side fifty to seventy-five bucks I just put it off to the side sometimes I luck out and don't need the parking but if I do I just pay and I'm done with it I can eat shower have a beer etcetera in peace go to bed and not worry about it. I don't park on ramps I don't feel safe parking on ramps are creating my own parking spot I rather just pay fifteen or twenty bucks I have to do it three times during the weekgetting raises now with elog mandatory and being an old school driver out here the bottom line on the 51 cents a mile I could put about 50 or 60 bucks on the side if needed just for Peace of mind knowing if I have to pay too park I pay

@tucker has a place he could use to let his brother truckers park, but he's being selfish and self centered.

The Lord said " Be all things to all men." And, " Let the greatest amongst you, be a servant to all."

A large part if the pa5king shortage is, due to organizations like Natso. Resisting, arguing, fighting against, and big dollar lobbying. When ever the topic of commercializing rest areas comes along. Think Maine, ma, ct,ny,oh,in, those states have LARGE rest areas. With parking, food service, gas and diesel, convience store, restaurants and or fast food. The truck stops do not want the competition. So instead of embracing the idea, and assuming the leases. They lobby against and say thier is no shortage, or if we charge for parking. The problem will go away.
