Really appreciate y'all discussing this. I didn't have clue how that worked, but I knew our forum members would be a wealth of information.

Sounds like the answer really varies by company and perhaps even the barns within the companies.

Within 100 miles or so of my area, there are 2 Sysco barns (both occasionally have Shuttle positions open), Ben E Keith (occasionally has Shuttle positions), and McLane (only position I've ever seen open is the delivery driver jobs). There are also Merchants Foodservice and PFG switching points.

I know the delivery positions are a young man's game and is tough on the body. I don't want any part of that. Much respect to those of you who do that job.

I'm not aggressively looking, more like a passing interest.

I was going to say Merchants was who I was going to guess, they have a lot of coverage down south and usually hire for shuttle drivers off the street.

Some places like US Foods, GFS and others you have to work you're way up from delivery to shuttle.

I've not seen any ads for Merchants but I know they only have a switching point to break up the pups. The barn for them is north of Montgomery, I think.

The two shuttle positions I have a passing interest in is the Sysco barn that is about 50 miles away and Ben E Keith (BEK acquired this location a little over a year ago). The BEK barn is much closer to me.

Both of them have Shuttle ads on Indeed and similar places from time to time.

    Mike2633 Thanks this.

I could only do shuttle work, I’m to old for the delivery part, plus my body wouldn’t hold up to it as of right now.

Plus living about 120 miles south of St. Louis doesn’t help either.

    88 Alpha Thanks this.

Let me also say that I could relocate to STL if i could catch on somewhere after getting my health issues taken care of.

Sysco and pfg are also looking for shuttle drivers they both probably pay more but at merchants you can use hands free cellphone and not get into trouble if that helps
