I agree he ran the sign based on how far momentum carried his truck after impact.

Also, the definition of “dangerous driving” is s marked departure from what a normal person would do under the circumstances.

let’s just say I’m skeptical how this will end.

Also Sidhu's own words, if reported accurately, pretty much tell us all we need to know.

“It’s a beautiful sunny day, no snow, the roads are dry and the police officer told us the fella claimed the sun was in his eyes,” Thomas said. “We were [there] 45 minutes after the accident and that sun was still high enough to not be in someone’s eyes.”

Yes I remember that. Might not be admissible as evidence though because he hadn’t been given his rights at that time (they didn’t charge him until later). I was charged with dangerous and anything I said to the cop prior to rights never came up in court.

it's not going to make a difference- at the end of the day we all expect a fair and impartial court free from the demands of a mob, because anyone can be charged with a crime. the court is there to decide guilt or innocence, not the mob. The court is to be given the evidence and you have the right to challenge if that evidence is relevant or admissible. Those are the rules we expect to apply to each of us- and there is no difference. Political interference in our system is a crime. Let the wheels of justice turn as they will, just keep your own eyes on the road and hands on the wheel. The job is dangerous enough without unnecessary distractions. He's not going anywhere, we all know it- and the court is less understanding when it comes to punishment when the judged guilty continue to deny their responsibility. Let him make his own bed with that.

True, he probably wasn't given his rights. Nonetheless if that statement is true the ecm data will certainly show no attempt to slow or stop.

I don’t know what’s available from the ECM. Even without a ECM, or witnesses, the defense would have an uphill battle explaining how a 130,000 lb truck starting from a stop traveled 60 some feet after impact.

They’re going to argue that the bus was speeding which caused more deaths than there would otherwise have been.

They’re going to argue the driver was on his first trip and looking at a paper map and missed the sign. Careless yes. Distracted yes. But doesn’t meet the definition of dangerous.

They’re going to argue that the ministry of transportation was negligent for not fixing the intersection after the previous accident(s). The crown won’t make their govt brothers look bad so they’ll offer a plea bargain with little jail time.

Like everyone else, I’m sick and tired of these lane crossing, tailgating, phone talking, bad parking safety hazards that drive with no regard for anyone but themselves. The other day I saw one of them intentionally cut off an ambulance on the 401 for petes sake. Hopefully he’s here on a TFW visa and they yank that and show him the door.
