Bay Area needs truck stops

Aaaaa the land of tree hugging, free loving, beat niks, will never allow you to do this.

It would mess with the natural beauty that over crowding, and the distinct odor of urine from the homeless provide.

Very unhealthy...truck stops.

Besides, it might kill a fly or something.

 

There used to be a TA by the Oakland Airport have not been in the bay area in quite a while try to avoid the whole area.

 

Yeah, it's tough. I used to go to San Leandro pretty regular.
Would hang out down at Westley on I-5.
There was a place on down 101 by Gilroy. Nothing convenient, and like campbells said, scales everywhere.

 

On the I5 just before the cut-off (around the Lathrop, Manteca, Tracy area) there are about 4 new truck stops on top of the ones that have been there for years. It's only an hour drive from the bay. What's wrong with the San Leandro truck stop? Don't park there overnight... it's not a good idea but it's not mandatory. If you're not in your truck it might wander off on ya. LOL

 

This is where I always go. The triangle. The problem is that most of the time that hour drive is more like 2-3 depending what time of day. And the scales coming out of the bay can be avoided pretty easily.

 

on the 205 in Tracy next the the Denny/ Motel 6 is a small dive of a tk stop. Sorry can;t think of the street name, can't locate my trk stop book.
It does fill up some what early with locals . Can get tight in there. Neighborhood isn't a problem.

As for the Bay area, as the locals say N I M B Y


As others have said , it's those wonderfull tree huggers who don't want them around the bay area.

When i have to go to the bay area, i stay in Ripon or our Stockton Drop yard. .
For a 5am, i leave at 0230-0300. West bound bay area rush hr starts aroun 0430. Been caught in it a couple of times. Thus why i leave early.

For those who have to go to BI-Rite Foods in So. San Fran/ Brisbane, you can park over night out on the street, at thier gate.
Heck they even come wake you up, to start staging you for doors. Be ready to hear a knock around 0430

 

There are scales in the bay area, just ask around. Usually, the shipper can tell you where the nearest scale is. Or ask other drivers. There are private companies that will let you use their scale for a fee. Once I was sent to a Citgo that had a scale right in front of their door. These aren't listed in any directory, but they are known to the locals. I've never had to leave the area without scaling somewhere first.

 

I should not be telling this but you can come in and out without going over a single scale one way is to take hwy 12 at Lodi head west from I5 before the Rio Vista bridge turn left on 160 across the Antioch bridge to hwy 4 DO NOT TAKE HWY 4 WEST FROM STOCKTON NOT A GOOD TRUCK ROAD!!!!! it has two or three narrow bridges and on coming cars will not yield for trucks on the bridge! Continuing on hwy 4 from Antioch is all free way this will take you to hwy 80, 680,880 ETC. From here you should be able to get to most points in the bay area avoiding most of the chicken coops. And yes there are plenty of places to weigh in the Bay Area most are private but can be used for a fee. You can use this same route to exit but remember to take HWY 160 and not stay on HWY 4 to stockton as it is not a good route.
