Yes. VW acquired a little over 16% stake in Navistar with plans to increase in the future. In return Navistar will gain access to VW technology. I don’t think it’s a bad thing though, Scania and MAN are great brands. Wonder if they’d bring a 705hp Scania V8 to the US? That would be something. Anyway, I think it’s a good thing for Navistar, Maxxforce put them well behind Freightliner and Volvo in developing an integrated power train and a reliable engine. The A26 is great and if they keep it up, I think they’ll be the fuel economy leader going forward.

If the A26 is based on the Scania 6 cyl engine like i think it is.........i have not heared any complaints so far.
Scania allready has a complete drivetrain.
    Engines,gearboxes and drive(s)

Man will focus on the smaller trucks,Scania the bigger ones.

The A26 uses the same block as the MAN D26. I’d say it shares a lot more than the block, if you looked at them side by side. I think it’s very possible they will design a 15l based on the MAN D3876. If they were to roll that out, using the same design process as the A26, it would stomp all over Cummins and the current leader, Detroit’s DD15.

    Maybe.
But like i mentioned before all class 8 truck engines will no longer be done by MAN.
    Scania will do it.
Who knows........... a .v8 in the future?
Now that would be big news. :D

Had the valve cover off today for the overhead and it was super clean in there. Surfaces all looked new in condition. I wiped oil on my fingers and if you rubbed your fingers together the oil disappeared, a sign of clean oil. Had it been dirty it would have continually smeared on your skin and you’d have to wipe it off. No burnt smell at all, had the smell of oil as if you opened a bottle of oil and took a sniff. I have 121,400 something on it right now.
I had them go ahead and change the air filter and they needed a new gasket for the valve cover; the old ripped a little when he pulled the cover off. I’m pretty impressed with the A26.

2150 miles between fill up since the over head at 17% deadhead, 8.6 mpg. Filled up in Rudy, AR at the Hilltop on 49. Weights were 78k to Amarillo and Lubbock, 79-80k to Emporia Kansas (this load is where all the empty miles occurred to deadhead to Garden City, KS), then 78k to Salem, MO and Springfield, and now again 78-79k to Effingham where I filled on my way to OH. I’ve been loaded down more than usual and running in Texas is not something I normally do but it’s looking good.

Hey there, how's the truck running? Any unforeseen issues yet with that motor? I talked to my local dealer about one like yours. How's the fuel mileage, still good? How is in the internal of the truck? Any squeaks, rattles or vibration to speak of?

Still doing great. I’ve started resetting the computer every fill up and checking it. Since the overhead, the computer mileage is all over the place. I just filled the day before yesterday on 960 miles from Erie, PAto Meridian, MS 75k and some change gross and got 8.56. I’m usually filling up every 900-1200 miles, depending where I’m going and I’m consistently getting 8.5-8.8. I’ve had a couple low 9s in there under good conditions; just cruising and little traffic. My gross weight stays high around 73k average and my DH miles around 17-18%.
No rattles. If I hit several big bumps in quick succession the windshield will squeak a little. But I’m talking only when it’s really rough, not just cruising along. The truck is really quiet. Even on a windy day you don’t hear much. And when it’s cold you don’t have a draft coming in.
I do oil samples on it and they’ve all been clean. I change it every 50k and I only had to add oil during the first 30k I had the truck, a half gallon; haven’t had to add any since.

If you get the 6x2, I recommend changing the tires on the dead axle and putting trailer radials on it. Keep the drives in storage until you need to replace your powered axle tires. Makes a big, positive difference in tire wear.

Fuel mileage since February shows 9.0 from ELD data, I came up with 8.9 by hand. The ELD data seems to be more accurate than the truck ECM for some reason.
