Thats what recruiters do good for him. Had Driver done a little investigation of his own He may not have went to work there in the first place.Thats my point.
My reasoning is that a Carrier who’s already being Targeted is more likely to get pulled around back with You know Who in the Drivers seat.Any Driver with common sense would rather not be hassled if given a choice. It actually makes sense if they’re holding a Company up to CSA standards. A Company should be able to identify Who May cause them problems.Likewise a Smart Driver with a good record would stay clear of Unsafe Companies Im just trying to find some logic in the whole mess.I see they are trying to encourage both with the CSA and PSP. Personally I read up on CSA a bit at first but decided it wasn’t worth worrying about unless you’re way outside of an average Drivers Record. As far as PSP I just learned of it myself. IMO If they are too strict they won’t have any Drivers. It has to be adjusted accordingly. Just another thing since the CDL began that Drivers worry too much about.A Company with a good Safety Rating Proves they know what They’re doing. Why Should any Driver settle for less. Also When Authorities whomever decide you’re probably guilty they will do all they can to prove it. That’s how the real world works.Who needs the hassles especially when it’s your Livelyhood.

Is a high score the end all be all of finding a company? Probably not, but it is a factor IMHO.Rideandrepair Thanks this. -

The problem with your comment is you are acting as if there are 5 or 6 people in these offices. Some carriers like Swift have hundreds if not thousands of people in operations across the country. Again I am not picking on Swift. I am just making the point that some people will do this. this is why that old adage about make them use the QC NOT the cellphone when they do this. In other words this is a PEOPLE problem not just a carrier one. I have a bit of friends that are safety critters across a lot of these carriers. I have seen just about everyone of them tell stories where they have actually walked into operations and verbally accosted operations and road side assistance personnel because of doing this.
I'm sorry that I'm having to do this, but some of the posters in these forums make it sound like the top carriers are all perfect angels that do no wrong and then there are the evil carriers that can't do nothing right. NOTHING can be further from the truth. I have been in this business for a long time. I have seen this with my own baby blues!Rideandrepair Thanks this. -
One more thing about carrier scores. Lets for a minute assume that Swift has 10,000 trucks. Lets then assume Outlaw trucking has 100. Outlaw goes into California a lot. They get 5 of their trucks put OOS. Swift has 5 trucks also put OOS. Who has the better score? When it comes to this subject people need to be very careful to look beyond scores and look at numbers and other factors. What drivers really need to try to stay out of are carriers like this one! When you see the FMCSA serving papers it is time for a career or company change! I saw something like this happen to a carrier in South Carolina a number of years ago.

I will also add lets look at what the OP wrote. One was for not having the license plate mounted and the other was for the spring guards sliding down and away from the gladhands. This goes down as violations, but are they something that makes that rig unsafe? This is what peeves me off about how a carrier can get some bad inspections because of operating a lot in a Police/Nazi State like California, and another similar carrier operating out of podunk Iowa can run with hardly no bad write ups. Which one is the unsafe carrier? I will be honest about it. I am glad I am retired, I don't have to worry about will my next entry into a scale house be that time my career gets a hotfoot because I just ran into a DOT COP that had his wife to run off with some trucker. This entire system sucks.

Another point to make as to why one must take the absolute CSA score with a grain of salt. My brother in law's company has horrible CSA score. A typical MI gas hauler, with about 20 trucks Not much wrong with equipement, no real HOS issues, etc. They do have a lot of farmers driving for them though. A lot of farmers why have been driving large vehicles since they could reach the pedals, and some before that thanks to wood blocks.
They refuse to wear a seat belt. About 90% of their issues were seat belt tickets. So much so that they went into Conditional rating
They finally had to threaten to fire 20-30 year drivers just to kept the company from being placed OOS.Rideandrepair Thanks this.
