So that's a no, there is no mandate and you are spouting truck stop rumor. Gotcha.

And lets be real. The companies know who is a bad driver and who is playing with handheld electronic devices like cell phones and go pro cameras. They just don't care until the wreck happens, and with a driver facing camera they will throw the driver under the bus.

There really is no point in having a driver facing in an otr truck. Outward facing is a fantastic idea although don't really see the point in the audio. Does not matter what you are doing while your driving. If you hit a parked car etc. it's almost always your fault anyway. The outward facing camera will show that. OTR drivers should not work for companies with inward facing cams, its an invasion of privacy..you LIVE in that truck.

You guys don't see a pattern here? For decades the hours of service worked just fine under paper logs. For decades drivers knew the green book and kept their lights tires and safety equipment up to snuff. For decades no truck driver was ever tested medically or drug tested.

The next big step is driver facing cameras. Companies are already seeing the writing on the wall and are implementing the new tech before the mandate rolls out. They know there will be a huge driver backlash and they want to fill their seats with the most mousey drivers you ever done seen, those drivers who bend like a leaf in any breeze and accept whatever new regulations come down the pike. Drivers who bury their heads in the sand and figure if we ignore it it will go away.

Do you do everything 100% by the book, all day every day? I do my best but there are times when I *gasp* dial a number on my phone, or use google to get a phone number, or *egads* reply to an email.

If you’re going to preach to the rest of us then you better do everything by the book. Including logging on duty time for editing all your videos if you’re making money from them.

And yet the largest trucking company in America (Swift) turned theirs off because they got tired of the lawsuits.

It's not a job it is a hobby so therefore it is exempt. I challenge you to find a regulation saying I must log on duty for time spent doing a hobby.

You are compensated, and are not a motor carrier. It applies to your vids....

That regulation pertains to work; it does not pertain to hobbies....

Are you compensated? It’s a simple question to answer. I didn’t see anything in the regs about it being a hobby or not. Maybe you can find the part about hobbies and show me where I’m wrong.

You get paid. That excludes it from being a hobby
