Show me a regulation that says that, because what I read is pretty cut and dried. He’s compensated by Youtube as a percentage of the ad dollars they get from his videos.

Again, all I said in my initial post that started us down this track is that if he’s calling for people to be fired for talking on the phone he better make sure he does everything 100% by the book. And he doesn’t.

"Work for a person" clearly means work for someone else. You seem to want it to mean compensated work of any kind but it doesn't say that.

BTW, what about stock trading? I do that and I certainly don't log it as on duty time.

I don't see a problem. Sure it's hypocritical, but using a cell phone is using a cell phone. Who cares how they get busted?

At least you see it as hypocritical, that was the point I was making pages ago. Phone videos are his deal, I get it. My opinion was that it’s a bit extreme saying to call their company and get them fired. I’m sure he would have the same opinion if I came on here and said if you see a driver going slower than the flow of traffic in the center lane you need to call them in for unsafe driving because they’re impeding traffic and forcing people to pass on the right.

But I wouldn’t do that, I don’t need to go around acting like I’m saving the trucking industry.

Self employed is working for a person. That person simply is you. It says "performing work for a person.", Not "performing work for another person". No conflict there.

Actually we've had a discussion about stock trading. It seems it's not on-duty, but that's because of special laws that deal with stock trading. Making videos and getting money from them does not have such protections.

Nonsense. Lawyers tend to be very precise. If they had meant any work of any kind they would have said so. Performing work for "another" person is redundant.

It is not on duty because it isn't work for a motor carrier or another person who is not a motor carrier.

Suppose I'm messing around with my guitar and come up with a song the someone hears a few months later and wants to buy. Do I then go back several months and edit my logs to show I was on duty when I wrote it?

They are precise, They said A person. Last I looked you were a person. You may not like the rule, but it is what it is. Burying your head in the sand and wishing it was otherwise is foolish.

You are working for yourself. No, stocks is a special case that has to do with stocks specifically. Again, burying your head in the sand because you want it to be different is pointless.

A good pole dancer only needs to pay attention for a few minutes. You've far exceeded that.

I unwatched along time ago. and its my own thread!! I started this thread in asking other truck drivers of what they think of driver facing cameras and there opinion of it. Ive learned from the few people that replied to this thread that drivers are against it than for it. I am against it. Ive learned also scottied67 is a snitch and i have 0 respect for snitches. bad things will happen to you scottied67 thats just the way it is. also learned that if i make videos i have to be onduty for that. so i will not make videos. waste of time anyway. unless it is to educated/inform other drivers to be better than me.

if the thread jacking continues, moderator please close and delete thread.
