For movies and reenactments; not a lot of WW2 era German planes in flying condition.

    REO6205 and mjd4277 Thank this.

Its a USA Texan Class Trainer used in the late 30's and world war two for fighter work.

The pilot for a Airline had this one he owned painted in Luftwaffe Colors similar to a Fulkewulf 190 or Merch 109. (Im thinking 190, due to the prop spinner)

Whatever the problem this old plane had Im glad they got him out of there. However it would be way better to have the plane in it's proper paint and markings as it was in the war years. It is his plane he painted it the way he wanted to for a group that plays living history in that era so it's has a value with that.

If the engine is the Pratt and whitney that I think is under that hood, I hope it's intact. They don't make them the way they used to.

AT-6 Texans have been used in various movies and as stunt planes for decades. Messerschmitt ME109’s and Focke Wulf 190sare EXTREMELY RARE (to my knowledge there’s only one or two genuine aircraft flying WORLDWIDE). Texans have also been used to depict Japanese aircraft in movies as well(Tora,Tora,Tora!!,etc.).

That makes sense. I guess after the Germans surrendered, all the allies went in and destroyed everything they could find throughout Europe and North Africa that was capable of war and had German ownership.

There is the German Jet, ME262 I think. Those are running off a pair of surplus F16 engines. The originals being long gone and not that safe to work with.

My favorite is the P38 lightning. Hefty. Enough firepower to shred a zero without all that yanking and banking BS and trouble. Cut through, pick a zero chop it up, step on the hammer and go vertical with the chargers howling. When you run out of momentum there should be a zero or two hung up half way between you and the enemy formation you slashed. Flop over onto your back and come back downstairs building up the energy you will need to slash back through.

I remember when I was a kid in early junior high years, I had a strong appetite for reading about WW-I [and later, WW-II] air and ground battles, aircraft and top fighter aces on all sides. I was always in the library looking for whatever was available. I’m not sure what led me to that fascination at such a young age.

I was always after my mom to take me to the hobby shop on the weekend to get another model airplane or tank.

Such simple times. Remember Black Sheep Squadron television show? I think that’s what it was called.

Black Sheep Squadron (TV Series 1976–1978) - IMDb

Looks like Amazon Prime Video has it

My paternal grandfather was fighter pilot in WW1 and a flight instructor in WW2. I read EVERYTHING to do with WW1 & 2... aviation especially as well as biographies of significant people. Ironically, I didn't know of my grandfather's involvement until well into my adult years and long after he was dead.
