I just upgraded to a practicality brand new 900watt microwave for $30. Driver was selling his because he was quiting his company and even had the reciept showing he bought it a few days ago. My old was in the process of going out anyway.

Got it plugged up and made dinner with with and 900watt microwave is pulling between 1150 and 1200 watts according to the inverter panel.

Yeah, microwaves and refrigerators are around 15%-20% less efficient from modified sine wave inverters than they would from a pure sine wave inverter.

So yesterday when I got to the terminal, I still had the trailer with the nail in the tire. I decided since it wasn't really leaking that bad, and that I was going to the terminal anyways, I'd get it done there.

While I was delivering, when I was shifting the tandems, I noticed ANOTHER nail in another tire. I usually don't get irritated at nails in tires because a lot of times you can miss them just because of the nail being face down on the ground a the time of a pre/post trip, plus drop and hook the nail could have been picked up by yard jockeys moving trailers. So I made a note of it, blah blah…

I get to the terminal, drop the empty, and go to the shop to write up the work I needed done, and write up the trailer.

They ask me if the trailer is loaded or empty, I tell them empty and dropped, and they CROSS OUT my write up.

The reason they gave me: Well you're not hooked up to it now in front of the shop or else we'd have you red tag it there when you drop it, and we aint going to make you walk all the way out there to red tag it, if they notice the nails they notice them.

So basically the terminal shop works on "Hopes and Dreams' When it comes to empty trailers with issues, because there is now no write up in the system anywhere about that trailer having two nails and a leak. And if no one else looks at it, its going to get assigned to some driver who will find out later.

I think they need to get rid of the guard check up front at the gate, and just have a dedicated safety lane made with someone dedicated to doing a lite DOT inspection on vehicles as they come in and out. I mean the last company I worked with had that at both Terminals, and you went through the lane every time and it took all of 10 min for them to do a tractor and reefer check, including fluids, and doing a pass under with the creeper to check brakes and suspension air leaks and blah blah and you just passed write ups to him.

Because checking lights and thumping tires at the gate aint really doing anything....especially when you're just told to "Write it up at the shop" if you or they find something, and then the shop throws it away....

Seems they ran off all the good foremen and mechanics over a 3 year period starting in June 2013. There's no way Delbert or Johnny would have ever put up with that crap.

They are just like a lot of the rest of the company's... They don't care but then turn around and complain that the drivers don't care about their equipment... Basically hypocritical

I was mistaken, the microwave is a 900 watt model. For some reason I was convinced it was 1000 watt. Your question got me looking. Anyway, it was pulling about 1250ish watts according to inverter display monitor. I literally just checked, sorry for late response.
