I just wanted to say that as a Schneider driver who just had my wages froze right before my raise, I will no longer be shopping from any stores that carry Schneider goods. This includes my local Wal-Mart, Target, Sears, Dollar General, Petsmart, JCPenney, and any other retailer that I find out Schneider contracts with. I'm asking any other Schneider employee to do the same until we are granted are raises as Schneider continues to make hundreds of millions in profit. The thing that Schneider doesn't understand is that even if we still continue to buy there we will not be able to buy as much due to wage freeze. This will ultimatly effect Schneider's need to haul goods.

Hmmm, not sure this would work.. If you stop buying, they stop shipping.. No need for drivers..

Sounds like you'd be shooting yourself in the foot..

Yea, and if they freeze our wages then we're not going to have as much money to buy their stuff. This is what's called the cycles of recession. Less buying, less producing, less jobs, more fear.

The thing is the opposite is also true. Better wages, more production, more consumption, less fear.

For every dollar they cut from their drivers they cut also cut from their profit. Under my plan though, for every dollar they cut from me, they cut 100% from themselves.

Did they say exactly why their not given you a raise? Have they showed you any financial statements, that might give you a clue as to why this is happening? In this economy you should be happy you still have a job.. There are many more people who would love to just have a job, to bring home some income even if it is just enough to live on with nothing extra to spend.

No, they haven't shown me anything. The only thing I do know is that in 2008 Schneider went from being a 3.4 billion dollar corporation to a 3.7 billion dollar corporation. That's 300 million dollars in profit! And they made cutbacks that year and now this year. I asked if the top level executives would also be making pay cut backs and they said yes but declined to go into any detail.

To me it's like this. On the one hand, yes I should be glad I have any job after the awful things that both parties of government and greedy evil bankers and politicians have done this country. It's like we were all stolen from. Some of us had more stolen than others. But it's no real consolation to a theft victim to say, "Well at least you weren't raped, tortured, or killed!" like they're some kind of ####### for being upset they got ripped off. We all have every right to be upset when bad things happen to us even if it's not the worst possible thing that could have happened. We all have the duty to be upset, and to take steps to make sure this never happens again. But while you're gladly accepting the crumbs that fall off the table the rich are getting even richer. They're making off with your money. And it's time you stop being so scared and rise up and take it back. The Bush administration was all about scaring you into giving up your rights and your privacy. This administration is all about taking your money, homes, jobs, and dignity.

hlaird if you are so upset about this and I hate to say this, but find somewhere else to work. Yes Schneider froze everybodies wages, are cutting down on OC's, firing people that don't do what is asked, and other cost cutting operations. They are doing this so that they can still be in business years down the road. I mean they placed orders for 550 new trucks almost a year ago and the new trucks are starting to arrive...they need to pay for the trucks some how and looking at many of the company trucks, these new ones coudn't get here soon enough.

By boycott the shippers and recievers (the stores) that Schneider does business with you are not gonna effect anything except your own paycheck. You want to hurt the customers that we haul for, it just doesn't make sense. If you really want to make yourself heard, go to Green Bay and have a talk with them. Yes the pay freeze does suck and yes it will probably come back to bite Schneider in the butt when the good drivers leave for better pay.

I was planning on buying a house for the first time and moving to a large city and looking for better opportunities there but now I'm not sure if I should. Part of me feels like I should just put every penny I can in the bank.

No, I don't think it will effect my paycheck if I start shopping at County Market or Save-A-Lot and K-Mart instead of Walmart and other retailers Schneider delivers for. Giving less money to customers make the exact same sense that giving less to drivers makes. My dollar is the only real power that I have. If we all banned together they'd give us our raises. But most drivers are too ignorant to realize that.

And I did write to Green Bay telling them of my plan.

And there's no reason for you to think that they are doing this to "protect customers, drivers, and the company." If anything it appears like they're doing this because they can. Because people are scared, and they'll put up with it. Because they're so stupid.

Revenue (sales) and profit (what you really make) are not the same.

2009 will be difficult for most and truckers thought 2008 was bad. It will be a war of attrition for many of these trucking companies.

I think that sounds very ungrateful and selfish, they could have just downsized and laid you off. Its thousands of Americans lossing jobs everyday and you complain because your wages were frozen, but you still have a job. Maybe you need to get out of that truck and watch some CNN or even the local news. I would much rather have my wages frozen to possibly keep my job rather than be in that long unemployment line.

Theres nothing you can do to CEOs from getting there money, My company froze Execs salaries. Everything is jacked up now and days we as American Workers have to stay strong and work through this. Stop complaining!!!!!!!!!!

I would be glad to have a job in this economy and to boycott because of not getting a raise is childish. My sister is suffering the same thing at her job, but she is not doing that because she is glad she has a job.
