Drivers need to remember that the East Coast has never really changed much since they became the 13 colonies. Back in the day there were no semi trucks, just horse and carts. NYC seen such population growth since immigrants came through there at Ellis Island was the shipping route destination from foreign countries. Look at Boston, NYC, and so many other cities towns, in Connecticut, Mass, R.I, Delaware, New Jersey, Parts of Philadelphia, Pittsburg, East Coast of Maryland, so on and so on.

I have been into and out of Gloucester, MA a couple times to pick up fish sticks. Not terrible unless you make a wrong turn.

Then it gets unfriendly REAL fast.

Haha, I live there, less than a mile from Gorton's. The city has put to signs recently pointing truckers to the truck route, but most drivers ignore the signs and follow thier gps instead. Take a wrong turn, end up on a residential with no way to get your self out. Seen it a ton of times, always makes me laugh. All they had to do was open their eyes and follow the signs. The PD has been cracking down on truckers not taking the truck route through town.

Yeah. I was fortunate enough to simply stop when the GPS and the traffic signs started telling me to go different ways. Flashers on. Pulled to the side, blocked traffic a couple minutes as I pulled up Google Maps to look again at my approach.

Kinda off topic. But followed my GPS in downtown LA and found out quickly that no one at Garmin has been in LA for probably 15 years....I met a 13' 1' bridge and performed a backing maneuver called "oh #### oh ####".

I know you don’t recall this old post Bob, but how do you do this? (90hour on duty?)

If you start a week with a fresh 70 hour clock, and run as tight as possible, you can get a full day of driving, a PTI, fuel, a lunch break, and a 10 hour break in 22 hours, using 11.5 hours on duty time.
So, in 6 cycles, you have burned 69 hours. 6 cycles is 5.5 days. The last cycle includes the first 10 hours of your 34. So, you refresh your clock with 70 hours, at 6.5 days, and push out another 11.5 hours of on duty time, making 80.5 hours in 7 days.

However, in that scenario, I think I must have started my new 70 on payroll deadline day. That means that I would have had 8 days driving on one paycheck. That's the only way I can think of to say I got 90 hours on duty time in one week. Either that, or I fumble fingered a 8 instead of a 9.

I do NOT run that hard any more. It takes me 6 days to break a 70 now, if I am running strong, not 5.5.

Goodness, scared a you. Interesting. I have run similarly once or twice in spirit, but not to the max literally on a reg basis. But IIRC, one week when I ran coast to coast reefer, had a 2nd load out of Cincinnati to Napa, an un-governed truck (company didn’t know), nearly impossible deadline with not enough hours to run. Made it with 15 minutes to spare because It was a challenge. You’d think they had to know I couldn’t make it at 65mph when I was dispatched. Nobody batted an eye when I did make it with no distress call. Dispatchers! Smdh. Anyway, I need more rest as older folk do than to run super hard like that nowadays

Thread caught my eye. I’m starting back up OTR with next month while I keep studying going OO. But Zip recruiter sent me an ad for Crete/Shaffer that says top 50% make 81k, and I said to myself, maybe I better re-think going to where I’m going, although similar cpm with good miles
