    Truck crashes have nothing to do HOS and Elogs. The reality is that this industry doesn't have a lot of smart people. It doesn't have a lot of flexible people either. Everybody wants to settle in this same routine, wake up at 5 am, shut down at by 5 pm, everyday. That's just not realistic. Many drivers are lousy trip planners, they don't understand HOS, they don't know how to work the elog, and most pack into the corporate truck stops to go to sleep. The thirty minute break is not that big of a deal, it can be easily incorporated into the day so easily. Most of you stop for that amount of time or longer anyway, whether it's to shower, eat, poop, whatever. I know things happen like shippers and receivers can kill a clock. That will never be controlled because it's nobody's priority outside of ours. So what do you do? Eliminate other time killers, don't drive through Chicago during rush hr!!!!!

    Why do we have HOS?
    One reason and one only. To improve crash numbers. They may say other thing like driver wellness and such but it’s all about the numbers.
    Why do we have elogs?
    From the FMCSAs stand point same as HOS they want to improve crash numbers.
    HOS and elogs from the government standpoint is about improving safety. Looks like another major flop. Just like health care and every other thing the government has a hand in where it does not belong.
    If you are doing better under government control like elogs and the new health care....... well........ I think that’s pathetic.

    HOS is not about safety, ELDs are about safety.

    HOS was created to stop the abuse to the drivers by the companies.

    If you all want to eliminate HOS, then owners and companies will run you drivers into the ground and be happy doing it.

    ELDs are part of the problem because as mentioned there is no flexibility to them based on the present HOS.

    SO to fix the problem(s), it is simple, we need to return to the same HOS scheme we had from 1962 to 2004, 10 hours drive time with ability to split that up and 8 hours rest with no 34 hour reset.

    There are so many people in this industry that never ran under those rules that would just complain about losing an hour of drive time and having to run recap all the time because there’s no reset. They would think they’re being cheated out of something.

    All this BS about elogs causing wrecks, causing speeding, causing accidents holds the jackwads wrecking, speeding, and tearing #### up blameless.

    Glad you people like handing out participation trophies, eschewing personal responsibility, and allowing mediocrity to rule.

    Good job #########. It is this thinking that keeps you people as unskilled labor.
