He actually doesn't charge that much many of his books can be purchased for $10 when he has sales. Financial Peace University is about $100. Both are very much worth it. As far as cash, he advocates debit cards, which can be used pretty much anywhere a credit card is accepted. What he doesn't recommend is debt, with the exception of mortgages.
What a concept, actually living within your means.

And that way of thinking is what will keep you in debt “ it really doesn’t cost that much , it’s on sale” Does it bother you at all that this guy talks about giving your money to god, but charges people with no money to tell them that they are broke?

Didn't say to buy anything someone doesn't need just because it's on sale. I have found his books to have many good ideas.
As far as him charging for his materials, do you give your services away because people are poor, I don't
Do I agree with all of his religious views, no. But he gives very good financial advice

Nothing wrong with paying cash. But if the interest is 12 mo/0% (or even a few bucks a month interest) nothing wrong with keeping your own cash in the bank and using a lender.

Also, motorcycles, cars, etc, sometimes it’s worth paying $20-30/mo interest to keep your own cash stash.

The problems come along when making those payments, while living paycheck to paycheck with no cash reserves.

    I'll take 0% finance over cash .

How does one live within their means if they wake to find out they no longer have the means?

Think 2 broker firms, oil company, telecommunications, trucking, and tons of retailers to name a few.

Then there's the story of the number 1 reason one gets bad credit. MEDICAL BILLS.

its a free market, people can choose to spend money on information that may help them or spend money on sports that makes everyone else rich., are people concerned when they leave a concert that their money went to pay for fuel for a private jet while they sit in traffic, that sounds more like a scam to me.

Ummm, wrong. His books aren’t $10. And Financial Peace isn’t $100.

I happen to own 2 of his books. Have a sister that attended his $465 Financial Peace University.

I’ll state again. He says nothing we weren’t taught (hopefully) growing up. He does however provide a written plan. The same plan I’ve worked long before Dave came to fame.

As far as anyone here scolding another about debt. I’ll take this moment to remind all you fans of Dave Ramsey. He has declared bankruptcy TWICE!

Maybe he should have listened to his grandmother, the first time.

Just looked on the website, FPU is $129 so it has gone up. Many of the books are $10 right now.
You are right that he says nothing that we shouldn't already know, however most people aren't taught anything about finances. In many schools now, what personal finance education there is comes from the credit card companies.
In my business, we have a lot of lower level employees who know nothing about finances and are constantly broke and falling for one stupid thing after another. I give out the books to any of them who want one. Often it is the first time that they have heard of any of this information.

Hmmm says right here $129 not $465 for Financial Peace University
    Financial Peace University
Also says right here books are $10 and that seems like every single one is $10
    Financial Peace University
And as far as I know he has only went bankrupt 1 time. Can you provide proof of your claim on the 2nd?
Now I'm no Ransey follower but He does have good advice for broke people. A heck of a lot better than your advice so far.
