That's a bad on the guy at Pilot, he got lazy and didn't do a proper transaction. Might be worth contacting them as well to complain, look at the hassle it's causing you now.

You young whipper-snappers and your newfangled ways. This is traditional...

Unfortunately, the days of the atlas covering all our needs are gone, or very nearly. Atlases can't help you on a surface street, and directions from a customer can't always be relied on, either. And as @Alexander suero can attest right now, using Google maps can get you in all kinds of trouble.

Been warning people for sometime to avoid RM products. After the 720 they only produce junk.

My Garmin has the same issue. Here is what I believe. Every time my screen goes dark I'm in a Freightliner or International. No problems in my Volvo. I think there is a charging problem, or the regulater is set too high. I sent mine back and it did the same thing. So I don't think it's the device, but the power supply could be the issue.

    JReding Thanks this.

That's no good. You just spend time in and endless circle sending back "defective" units and waiting for them to return fixed. They are broken from the start, design/programing flaws and can't be repaired.
Junk designed to make them money foremost.

My Garmin 560 has worked fine for four years. There's a few times where it didn't want to boot up and I thought it was done but it came back to life.

Worth a try anyway. I didn't have any trouble with mine that I bought 3 years ago. Problem is someone stole it out if my carry on bag at the airport 3 weeks ago so guess I got to get another one. I will avoid this one for sure
