I've already got about seven or eight years in the union, depending on how they want to add it up. So theoretically I could retire in 17 or 18 years, but I may just stick around for 30 instead of 25. It's a good place to be, friend. Keep us updated. I'll be pulling for you.

I just got hired as a seasonal feeder, $18.75/hr and a $500 weekly bonus. Get the bonus regardless of hours.

That is a seriously good deal. Is there any chance of you going permanent?

Then save your money, and be careful out there. If you can weather the storm of the first two years (which under the new contract will be much easier), you'll be set for life.

The early going part is going to be rough. And you will think they forgot about you. And you'll get frustrated. You just have to hang in there and think long-term. I know it's hard when you have bills and all that. But...try. Peak season will be in full swing starting Monday.
