No, not if you trust your drivers. And if you can't trust a driver why have him in the first place?

Maybe the company that pays the chain money sees it as kind of a bonus, an attaboy. Maybe it's just a way of rewarding a driver who puts out a little special effort over and above what the job calls for.

Since I know I'll be chaining at least 5 times in the next 4 days, I asked my boss for chain pay. She said sure, she'll deduct it from my annual bonus. I explained she had it backwards, she said no, she had it correct, she'll give me chain pay on my next paycheck, and then deduct it from my annual bonus.

We figured the biggest slug collected approximately $5K a year in purposely wasted time.
That's grand theft most places I know.

We're not union and we're a small company. It's easy to keep track.
Like I said, our guys get paid by the hour so they automatically get paid to chain too.
We used to pay percentage with a little extra to chain and to tarp. I don't see any difference in the trip times between now and then.Oxbow and Nothereoften Thank this. -
