I've never understood why do I see so many swift trucks with tandems all the way to the rear? I've never once hauled a load like that, nor would I. Any reasoning behind it? -
I have seen a lot of non swift trucks with their trailer tandem all the way back too.
Either they think it looks cool or it was only way to make the load legal on the tandems. -

First thing I do is slide them back as far as legally allowed.
Always have for nearly 30 yrs. -
Its also a matter of letting a shipper determine how their freight is loaded. They aren't driving and the driver is the only one who can determine how their truck is driven including how the load can effect that drive. There's a line painted about four feet from the back of the trailer. I never let a shipper load behind that line simply because the load couldn't be balanced.
The worst loaders were the ones who claimed they were experts because they had been doing it for X number of years which to me was a failed IQ test; who would be stupid enough to drive a forklift as a career? . If it was a drop and hook and I had to have the tandems any more than the 14 hole I would have it reworked even if it cost me time to go back and have it done.
There's absolutely no good reason to run with the tandems all the way back. Its not cool but it is an indication that the driver is as stupid as the loader.

Is it the Lowe's DC in Cheyenne that I remember?
They TRY to load as back heavy as possible. It is nearly always required to have the tandems way back there.
And if it is legal through the states you are going through, they will NOT rework the load.driverdriver Thanks this. -
