Yeah my local dept has them but they don't have them on hydrants. I see the usefulness of the guys product because itll fit onto the hydrant no adapter needed. I looked up the Facebook page and it appears to be dead since 2015 so I'm guessing he went up in smoke, no pun intended, the deal he made on shark tank fell through once the cameras stopped.

Downside would be is the life vs cost. Firehose could last a few years or one call.

I fell off the deck three weeks into training. Bruised my elbow (got crazy lucky) and decided from that day forward that getting up onto and getting off the deck would always be a careful, deliberate activity. I wasn't going to fall again (and luckily, I haven't).

I was doing about 55 on this road the other week, empty. No wind, to traffic, no worries. It's all about control on snow and ice. You drive where you are comfortable, and recognize when you need to back out of it a little. Gotta keep the tires warm to keep them stuck to the road. This is going to be my fourth winter in the truck, second out running "highway" (week-long OTR).

I'll take roads like these all week if it means avoiding freezing rain and fog.

Why do people (read: paper pushers) believe fully electric trucks are the way to go?

I jumped up and down for years. But in time learned hopefully early enough. I took a brand new werner 6 foot ladder and cut the back off except a foot. Reinforced it and when my tailboard comes out the ladder is right there comes out at fits into rub rail. After running wreckers and the fire dept training its enough to teach you to use a ladder. And a good Chief that would let you know you screwed up.

So they can monitor it and micro-manage the hell out of the driver.

This is my 18th winter driving a truck. I still stand by my post. You shouldn’t be riding around taking pictures and posting on the web while you are driving. Especially on icy roads. I don’t see how anyone can argue otherwise.

How about this. Don’t take pictures if you don’t want too. But don’t come on here telling others what to do.
