Thermo King cab heater question

Just get an espar or webasto. With the nod going to espar. Consume like .5 gallon for 10 hours for a truck sleeper. Doesn't draw much from the battery either. Excellent way for night time heat. The standard bunk heater is what you want. Do not get the next one up, designed for box trucks. It will never get past idle and will carbon itself up. The standard bunk heater will cook you out if you crank it right up. Spring for the digital thermostat if it costs extra.

 

Not much fuel and no smell needs to be serviced about once a year at least mine does , parts about 25 labour do your self half hour. Best of luck

 

Thermo king bunk heater will melt plastic its so hot. I know this because I left an empty coke bottle on the floor near the air outlet and when I woke up in the morning the coke bottle looked more like a drink coaster. And no, you never smell anything. You can't burn diesel and inject that into a bunk, you'd be dead in an hour. You only feel the HEAT from the combustion.

 

I recently installed a "planar 2d" which is a russian copy of the Espar unit. I paid $570 CAD to my door ($425 USD) I prefer to call it a furnace..... and it uses 1 gallon every 15 hours. Comes with a very confusing digital controller.

 

They are all the same thing. I find the espar is more robust than webasto. Not sure if thermo king is it's own brand or just remarketed one of the others.

It doesn't matter that you drive a small van, it's all the same.
