Well good luck with it, everybody thought the 6.0 was better than the 7.3 at first too, and then they said the 6.4 was better than 6.0, and then ford told them where to stick their engines. I would hope everybody involved in both of those cases was sent back to the garage to work on stuff, and by work on stuff I mean sweep the floor.

This tells me how little you actually understand....
I can read a owners manual too.
Your engine should have oil changes done way more often the the older trucks . It's called a egr valve , look up what it actually does to you oil .
You refuse to consider the facts or you might be wrong . Any facts I put out there you just switch the topic .
Understand how a motor runs first .
Or just believe what the stealerships tell you .
I am done with this topic because your right and everybody esle is wrong ....
Oh and the Cummins eat cam because of lack of overhead adjustments and guys like some one ... Who believes 80,000km or whatever oil changes is acceptable.
    Have fun boys

You only change the oil when the sample says so. My samples are clean and I pay extra to run the TAN and it is acceptable as well. I am aware what EGR is and what it does. That’s why I do oil samples. OCI of 50-70k Miles is acceptable in these new motors. I do mine at 50k because the TAN is getting close to the change level, TAN being Total Acid Number. No reason to waste money dumping perfectly good oil.

Your right but you are forgetting one thing .... Well a bunch of crap actually .
What about all the carbon or soot ?
Nah that's fine we'll you are at it just put a bunch of sand in the oil .
This is why I won't even considering carry on this tread you refuse to listen to reason

DONT YOU GET IT- HE KNOWS EVERYTHING THATS WHY HES MADE MORE MONEY THAN ALL OF US FOR YEARS AND YEARS AND YEARS!!!!!!

    .........hmm...

But seriously folks: why bother listening to people who have the experience when you can read a article in a magazine by a proven shyster and claim to know something when you clearly know very little, evidenced by 90% of what you write.
Incredulity is saved for the experienced, while braggadocio for the amateur- what a less than novel idea.

Well, you’ll really crap your pants once I put the bypass filtration system on. I’m doing that when it hits 200k miles so Navistar can’t raise hell about it. Then, who know how long I can go between oil changes? Maybe even a couple hundred thousand? I’ve seen some outstanding numbers from people running a bypass system.

A hundred thousand on an oil change? You have absolutely zero mechanical knowledge, to the point you can't find the dipstick, though you are one, without Google, I guarantee that.

That’s what oil samples are for. I have no idea what affect it will have until I get it on here. Filtering down to 2 microns at 98% efficiency and removing soot particles less than 2 microns at 33% efficiency is going to have substantial benefits for a motor with EGR. Oil and it’s additives don’t wear out; they become oxidized through heat and contamination. If you can at least eliminate the contamination issue, you can substantially improve engine health and drain intervals with no harm being done.

I can tell you’re a big KR fan since you quote him chapter and verse. Tell me how the extended drains save you money? You still have to take it in and grease the truck. And what’s the price of the bypass filter? You have to change them at the same service intervals? And you have to pay for the oil sample. And you have to buy and install the OPS. So you don’t really come out ahead. You just get to say “I haven’t changed oil in a 100 thousand miles “. But you still spent just as much as the guy who changes every 15 to 20 thousand.

Make sure it has a shower & sink included. A 50" LED mounted wouldn't hurt either.
