Anyone ever drive a cabover?

I drove a cab over several people and a fire hydrant.

I reckon that doesn't count tho.

Big Cam 3 is a good engine to work with

 

I see cabovers all the time down where i live in southern az... They always runnin hay , doubles and triples.. Sometimes see one under a cattle pot

 

The first semi truck I drove was a cab over Freightliner for CF. Then for Frito Lay I drove the Fords and later the cornbinders AKA International. The International rode as good as most hoods do and had a very small doghouse compared to the older cabovers.

 

first truck I drove was a corn popper. .. international transtar pretty much the columbia of its day then went to mack cruiseliner. ford 9000 , corn binder ( 9670 international much improved over transtar ) then a peterbuilt with air ride and believe it or not power steering and a air conditioner that actually worked thought I was on vacation most of the time lol ... then a kw with a 400 cat would run 95 .... then all conventional after that

 

I drover a 95' intl coe with a 11.1 detroit. Super 10 trans. Bought from Walmart with less than 400,000 miles.
Drove it for 19 years. Sold it about a year ago. It's still working.I Bought a 97' freightliner fld condo sfa "rare" with a 470 detroit. When I first got out of the seat and was able to stand up, I felt like I just got parolled. hands high in the air still unable to touch the ceiling.
But let me tell you, I had to learn to drive all over again. Used to roll dr.side window down on coe and look back and see entire side of truck and trailer. The first time I tried backing my fld, I rolled down windows, looked back and all I could see was a big muffler and muffler guard.
For a few times, backing, I would over steer, than over correct, than over steer, than over correct, lol you get the picture. I miss my coe on some day's, when on tight spots, but love the room and comfort of my fld.

 

Best thing about cabovers is Truckers for most part were in shape. Todays truckers would have a hard time with climbing in a cabover
